"The frustrating part of getting The Call at the office was that while my co-workers congratulated me, they had no clue how freaking HUGE and MAMMOTH and HUMONGOUS this moment was for me."
Isn't that the truth? People congratulated me when I got my agent but they didn't realize it was a BIG DEAL and came only after years of hard work. And they had a hard time understanding I still wasn't guaranteed to get published.
Great story, Lisa! Glad your husband and puppies were around to congratulate you the second time. :-)

I was at work in the English Dept. at Eastern Michigan University when I got the call about winning Writers of the Future. I still did the bouncy-dance of joy, but it's not just the same when people don't *get* it.
