Yes this is a bit of a rant. But if you think you could offer some 'legal' suggestions, I'm all ears at this point.
A day after getting my car rolled over on the highway and dealing with all the other crude afterwards, I got a letter from my insurance company. They were asking that I pay them up $1600 from a previous fender bender that had happened over three months ago. It said that I had a month to pay them back or else they would 'adjust' any of my future insurance. And from what I was told, that would mean doubling my rates for the next four or so years. (In the long run, that would mean I'd be paying three times as much for the money I owe.)
I would have paid it right then and there, but being laid off of work back in December and having to rely on whatever was left in my funds for two months, before my employment insurance kicked in, kind of sapped all that I had left.
I thought all was lost till I got word that one of the people over here where I live, said they could help out, by giving me a loan. Their brother was owing them money, a large sum from what I was told, for doing some cleaning up and rebuilding of a house. But a week has since passed and he was telling me had problems getting a hold of his brother and that he even needed the money to pay bills himself. I told him that I had till Monday to figure something out, otherwise it would leave me with too little for looking at other options, whatever they may be. I was told that he would call his brother tonight, for sure, and get back to me on it after his work on Monday. I left him with that promise and went back to my place. Less than an hour later, my room mate comes in from his walk and said he had talked to our friend, was told the loan was a no go after all. A bit of a shock since that wasn't what I had heard less than an hour ago I told him.
Turns out our friend decided in that between my talk and my room mate's, he wanted to back out anyways. OK, I know it was nice of him to offer to help out and all. I was thankful for offer of help, even when he didn't have to. But to be pulled along for a week by words that said he was by all indications going to help me out, I guess shame on me for thinking that. Also stupid of me to rely on this so much and not look at other options in the mean time. I guess I was giving it too much hope that it would work out, now I got myself stuck.
Don't suppose anyone has suggestions? I just need a loan for a few months. Once I can get this issue paid up, I'd be better able to pay things back quicker once I get back on the road again.
