The entire article was to fight for the freedom of speech and expression, not to be silent, even if it means 'poking the hornet's nest'. So it seems you have missed the point, or didn't communicate your thoughts entirely.

For the longest time in the US and Europe, it has been common to mock, ridicule, etc Christians and Christianity.

Christians have protested such actions but have not used violence against the mockers.

IMO you come to close to "blaming the victims" in your comment.

The Blame belongs securely on the people committing the violence.

The cartoons may have been in "poor taste" but the cartoonists didn't deserve being murdered.
