Hey Skein,

you're too kind. I like writing Grant's POV it's delightfully squirrelly ::laughs:: and you learn about maths!

Whumping Rodney -- can we have a seizure

Oh, very nice, as always - John's easy relationship with GRant, Carson's care and attention, Grant watching over Rodney and musing...
There was something very... night-time-ish in this.

That was very nice. Quietly affectionate. A good repressentation of things from Grant's point of view.

Thank yous. Grant's POV is proving to be quite the education -- I'd never heard of E7.

A new chapter - and I love it. The scene in the commissary with Grant, Carson, Shep and the hot chocolate is very sweet!

I also could picture the sleeping Rodney very well, you described it so lovely. I like it how much Grant still cares for his cousin after he cared for him when he was a child.

Oh, and I learnt something new while reading this chapter, which is always good. :) I learnt that English speaking folks also have a mnemonic when it comes to the port and starboard thing. And what an interesting one! Four letters as in "left", good to know that. We have something similar in German. "Port" is "Backbord" in German, "starboard" is "Steuerbord". We memorise it by saying that the word "Steuerbord" has two 'r', which is the letter with which the word "rechts" (="right") begins. So "Backbord" is left and "Steuerbord" is right. :)

I like it how much Grant still cares for his cousin after he cared for him when he was a child.

there might be some fights in the future when Rodney thinks that Grant is his responsibility (and in the large part Grant accepts that) and then Grant quietly helps and exerts his independence around the edges of the scenes.

The 'port' same no' of letters as 'left' is my own trick -- but it seems logical. It's interesting that the German "steuerbord" and "starboard" are similar yet "backbord" and port are completely different.

[Middle English sterbord, from Old English storbord : stor-, a steering; see st- in Indo-European Roots + bord, side of a ship.] and interestingly Port [Origin: bef. 950; ME, OE L porta gate; akin to portus port]. So right is steering and port is gate...

OMG! I love learning stuff like this. I was constantly stealing my English Major friend's "History of the English Language" text book. Of course he kept stealing it back because he needed it for class. ;p
