Jim never did like reminders of how things worked here.
Susan was a wreck, and rightfully so. He remembered too well the feeling of emptiness he'd felt when he woke up to find Pam gone. It wasn't something he thought he'd ever get over, even as happy as he was now with things. He also knew it could happen to one or both of them one day, with no warning. That things were never certain drove him crazy, and it felt like if it wasn't him dealing with someone leaving, it was someone close to him.
It did get him thinking, though. Samantha only had one godparent since Tim left. Now Susan was looking at a future without Jon and with two children, and it seemed unfair to burden her with the sole responsibility if something happened to them. Of course he'd brought it up with Pam. Both of them ended up agreeing on one person, though Jim had sort of knew she'd be the choice all along.
He decided to head over to her hut instead of what he usually did, which was wait until he bumped into her - a daily thing, more ofter than not. Knocking on the door, he waited to see if she was even around or not.
