With things back to normal, Jim fell back into his usual schedule. He admittedly wasn't seeking out certain people he had messed with during the week, but beyond that, things were pretty much back to normal With Sam off with Pam for a little while, Jim spent the free time getting a couple of things done before finally finding a table in the

"Long time no see, Mars," he said. Of everyone he'd seen all switched up, he had to admit seeing her like she was was probably the funniest. At least, really, until Pam had mentioned the stuff she'd spoken to her about. It was enough to make him think he should sort of take it easy on her. "Feeling better, or are you here to invite me to another party?"
Of course, being intent on being nicer didn't mean he wasn't going to get one or two jokes in or have any interest in deleting what was now on his computer.

He didn't doubt for a second she had to know he'd never just erase that kind of stuff. They'd known each other way too long for that.

Swallowing hard, she didn't move to follow him, not in the mood to continue this particular line of teasing. She could take jokes with the best of them, but this, what the island had done to her, she couldn't see as a joke. Sure, it was funny to everyone else, and she knew she'd have been laughing, too, if it hadn't been her, but she was sick of being used like a puppet by people and islands alike. It had happened too many times before life here for it to sit easy with her now, in too many ways she didn't ever want to explain.

"I still don't really know who was worse, you or Mal," he said, tapping his pen against his notebook as he looked thoughtful. "I bet River saved that picture he colored in. I'm just glad I was passed over this time around."
He didn't want to think of last time, for a lot of reasons. At least when the stuff happened to them, they were nice people. He had been a jerk.

The next time he woke up as a woman, a ten year old or a squirrel, she was taking so many pictures, she could plaster the goddamn Compound with them. Now, though, she was done. Sliding a book forcefully back onto the shelf, she started away. It wasn't like there was any point staying for this anyway.

"Hey, Veronica, wait," he said, already jogging to try and stop her. "I was just messing around. I didn't mean anything by it. I'll stop, I promise."

Maybe she couldn't, for all her trying, control everything. She'd thought she could at least control herself.

"I'm sorry, alright?" he said, even though technically he could point out she'd never been especially kind about the kind of stuff that's happened to him when she was spared. "And for the record, I only have the stuff I taped because I think River wants to tease Mal about it."

Alright, a little.

He didn't want to be fighting over something like this. He hadn't meant the action to be malicious in any way. That, at least, she had to know without him saying so.

It wasn't often she didn't know what else to say, but there was no further quip to be made without starting a fight and no confession she cared to give. She'd opened up enough before; she wasn't about to start sharing now.

"And hey, you can rag on me all you want next time something weird happens to me," he added, just because he didn't like the silence that followed her agreeing. "Which I am sure is just a matter of time in this place."
