Jim had walked Pam to her job, and while he wanted to go straight to Veronica's room, he didn't. It was still only nearing nine in the morning, and Jim knew what he was like when people woke him up that early. Still, he had the picture to show her, and god, he wanted to show her it right at that moment. He knew she'd want to see the kid she'd inevitably have following her around all the time.
But he really tried to wait in a patient fashion, staring down at a book he picked out from the shelves and pretending to really read it. He waited until it was ten - a respectable hour, he figured -before getting up, tossing the book aside, and heading down the couple of flights of stairs to reach her room.
He dropped his messenger bag on the floor before knocking, hoping he wasn't waking her or, especially, her roommate.
"Veronica?" he called out. "You in there?"
