Irreverence

I had a lot going on this past weekend.

I had my Friday interview at Circuit City. I sat down and shot the breeze with Bill, one of the department managers. He asked me 5 or 6 questions, I answered them like a pro and walked out of there with a second interview scheduled for the next day. Couldn't have gone any better.

On Saturday I talked to Jackie, who is the store director. He's a real cool guy. Come to think of it, I don't know if I've ever known of a black dude named 'Jackie' who wasn't cool. There's Jackie Brown, Jackie Robinson, Jackie the attorney who was on like 3 episodes of Seinfeld, Jackie Joyner Kersey....the list goes on. We talked about what department of the store I liked/knew about, and I said Games. Then we talked about games and I demonstrated how easy it was to sell a Playstation 2 to somebody over a Gamecube, and he like that. Apparently, knowledge of a product and knowing how to talk to people is key in any place of business. Go figure. Kiss my white ass, Center for Family Health.

Jackie then showed me around the store, and told me that I worked the next day, which was Sunday. And on Sunday, I was to "shadow" this one employee in the movies/games section and see how things work. It went well, and I even got to watch the Lions game because it was on one of the TV displays. (I liked how Anti Christ threw 3 touchdowns and no interceptions against the fucking CARDINALS and all of a sudden he doesn't suck anymore according to the media. Kiss my white ass, sideline reporters.)

So now, because they need me to work weekends, I will work from open to 4 on Friday-Saturday-Sunday this weekend. I also have to work from 5 to close at my other job on those days. So by those calculations -- and throw in a Circuit City meeting at 7 o'clock Saturday morning -- I get to work 45 hours this weekend. Considering my lazy ass hasn't ever worked more than 40 hours in an entire week before, I hope my feet are still attached to my legs on Monday. Hey, it must be the money.

****You know, I just realized something. I'm getting into the habit of working at places that have repeating-letter schemes (BlockBuster with the two B's, Circuit City with the C's, I'm sure you get it). So at this rate, if I keep going alphabetically like I am now, I'll be working at Dunkin' Donuts in about 6 months. I know that I'd love working with all those Arabs.
