We've just completed designing the movie poster we'll be using for fundraising purposes (to see a larger version, click on the link or image above).
The graphic concept may or may not change once the picture is shot, but having a poster to show potential sponsors and investors at this point lends the project a certain solidity and credibility it wouldn't otherwise have.
As serendipity would have it, our local producers association (APCA), of which I am vice president, sponsored a conference on film marketing day before yesterday for which we we're lucky enough to get Fred Tio, until recently The Walt Disney Company's Executive Vice President/Creative Director Worldwide Marketing, as speaker.
Fred is himself a graphic designer -- he designed the poster for the original Tim Burton Batman movie, to name just one -- and at Disney, he was responsible for the domestic and international creative for every Disney and Pixar animated film, including "Beauty and the Beast," "The Lion King," "Mulan," "Lilo & Stitch," "Tarzan," "Toy Story," "Toy Story 2," "Monsters, Inc.," "Finding Nemo," "The Incredibles," and this summer's hit "Cars".
At any rate, we had the good fortune of being able to show him our poster and got some very positive feedback on it, so we're happy about that.
