Not only can I ride a motorcycle, after having gotten my license last summer, but now I will ride a motorcycle, hopefully on a regular basis. One of the gals that I took my street riding course with last year was upgrading, and I bought myself (ok... ourselves) a cute little Suzuki Savage 650. It's an older bike with low kms, and was a fantastic price. It's just big enough to feel safe and comfortable on the highway, but small enough for me to manage as a first bike. It's a cruzer, which is what I wanted. It doesn't make big noise like those nice little cruizer Harleys do, but who has 20K in disposable income? Maybe when I'm 50.
There are people out there riding right now but I think they're crazy. Have you seen all the gravel on the road? I even saw a scooter zooming down 50th street today! Well, it's going to be a while for me anyway, since I'll have to invest in a helmet, a jacket, maybe some chaps, and certainly get the bike registered and insured.
In other news, Boubabe and I head off early tomorrow morning to Victoria. This is my first airplane flight in five years, maybe 10. I can't remember. It's a big step for me. Motorcycles, scrambling peaks, no problem. Airplanes? Problem. Anyway, the weather forecast is finally looking up after it said rain rain rain for the last two weeks straight. We are planning to try to hit the Juan de Fuca trail for a night or two, tool around the Sooke area, visit my cousin that I haven't seen since I was a kid, and generally enjoy life. My eyeballs could use some green.
Oh and I'll try out that Jott to LJ thingie, too!
