I can't believe how disappointing last night was.
Faith Hill does not know how to sing or work a crowd, and all Tim McGraw is capable of is flaunting his body to get applause. They did not talk to the audience, they did not look like they were having fun, and you could tell. It was all blase to them, and I know that they have been doing this for a long time, but come on, when somebody pays nearly 80 dollars to YOU to hear you sing and provide entertainment, you better damn well do your fucking job. Taking out my bias for the Dixie Chicks, every single concert I've been to pales in comparison to theirs. I mean, it just seems fake to go to a concert and see someone NOT playing an instrument, and NOT dancing, and NOT having fun. When they look like THEY"RE not having fun, WE sure as heck aren't either. That concert was definitely not worth 75 dollars a ticket to see. So if any of you out there like their music, don't waste your money. Their stage was an exact copy of what the chicks had 4 years ago, so it wasn't even an original idea. But theirs, had WAY WAY too much detail in the projection screens (the floor). Both Faith Hill AND Tim McGraw have what we call UBA...Upper Body Awkwardness, a term coined by the one and only Tori and I.
They best just work on a new album that wont be in the 10 ten (country), or get them an award for album OR singer of the year. Ok, my bias for the Chicks came out then.
But aside from being totally bummed about the concert, that just means that I get to look forward to Alison Krauss & Union Station THAT much more. Since they play instruments and talk to the crowd, I wont be in danger of being disappointed. Especially with Jerry Douglas there, the instrumentalist of the year at the CMA's and ACM's for about 10 years. He is God. And he plays the Dobro.
This weekend are the boat races in Detroit, on the Detroit River, and I'm really excited. My family is coming down, and we're all going to watch my Uncle race! So if any of you are bored, come down to thunder on the river, and watch my uncle race. It's fun.
The head people at the Dixie Chicks website have promised us a big update and a press release about what the Chicks have in store for us coming up. Monday is a long time to wait. I'm crossing my fingers for another "Rock the Vote" tour...or at least some new music. This drought is killing me...let alone the drought for Lost, which, don't even get me STARTED on. So I'm gonna end right now...right here. So I guess if you wanna hang, give me a call! I'd love to!
