I feel so fortunate to be able to write that things have been going my way lately. Last week was a very busy, and hectic week. One that I had been dreading for a long time. Once it hit Wednesday night, it was all over. Then started the fun. The best weekend I've had in a long time.
Wednesday night we went to see Amy Roloff of "Little People, Big World" at Plachta. Even though we didn't get in the first 10 rows, I still had a pretty good time. It's so strange to think that she went to our school. That she took our classes, that she lived in our dorms, and worked at the front desk at Beddow hall! She turned out to be a really cool person, and no, I'm not making any jokes about her height of "height" of popularity.
haha.
Thursday was easy, just having art and creative writing; my two favorite classes. Tomorrow in creative writing my group has to give their presentation. I'm kind of nervous, but not really, since I'll have 4 other people up there with me.
Friday was amazing. Sleeping in late and hanging out with my friends all day. Then at night we went to see Marla Schultz and Chelsea Handler. We got there an hour and a half before the show started, and it turned out that we were the first people in line. We sat there for about an hour playing the Actor Name game. Where you take The first letter of their last name, and think of another celebrity that has the same letter, but as the first letter in their first name. Example: Chelsea Handler, Hilary Swank, Sally Field, etc. It lasted the whole hour and a half we were waiting. But man, it was so worth waiting for. We got front row, pretty center, and Charlie, Rachel, and I were talked to a lot. Charlie was called a "corn boy" and "pussy", which was possibly one of the funniest things ever.
She talked to me from the stage and asked if I would rather "Sleep with Flava Flav, Star Jones, or a relative." "No, make that Star Jones after she just ran 10 miles." I picked the relative. Then she asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I said "Teacher." "What kind?" "English". She was like "Oh, sorry. I just really hate kids. What grade level?" "High School." "Why would you do high school? They're not fat and little and cute anymore."
AHHA.
The best line of the whole thing was, after a big swig of 'drink' from her cup, "I have one important question I want your opinion on. Is it ok to drink while you're pregnant if you give the baby up for adoption?"
Two weeks ago I got tickets to go see Faith Hill and Tim McGraw at the Palace this summer. They're the only big act I haven't seen. I'm so excited to go see them, since last time I had no one go and see the with. Now, thanks to college, I do! I'm getting so excited for next year. The apartment, mostly. That is going to be one crazy time, but I couldn't be happier about it!
This Friday I'm going to see Lloyd Maines, Natalie's dad! Hopefully we'll be able to meet him afterwards, so my mom can bombard him with the questions I want to ask him about Natalie. I better start thinking about some! If I asked him, it'd just come out in a big "word salad". This will be the closest I will probably EVER come to meeting her.
Well, this is a long entry. Not as 'insightful' and meaningful as others. Easter. Still haven't figured out what the family is doing, but I know we're doing something!
Pam and Hunter are coming home this weekend, and we're having a big fancy dinner on Friday night. I'm cooking, and I've been looking up recipes for hours. I think I've finally decided on what to make, and I'm really excited to see them again. I really miss them when we're up at school, but I make sure to talk to them on the phone at least once or twice a week. Finally it'll be the summer and we can see each other all the time; when we're not working, of course.
Only 23 more days of class for me until summer! I can not WAIT. Start the countdown!
