My Dad called me a bit ago to let me know that Seattle Seahawk Craig Terrill, who performs music in the off-season,
was performing on local radio station 710 KIRO, and was promoting his new CD, called "CT", with sales benefiting
Gloria's Angels, which is a newly-formed foundation that helps aid families with children suffering from life-threatening illnesses. Their aim is to go beyond what the other charities out there are doing (such as helping with household chores and child care while parents are with their kids during treatments), so it's a pretty special cause.
Gloria's Angels was formed by the father of Gloria Strauss; most of you will remember my talking about Gloria some months ago. She was the 11 year-old with neuroblastoma who died last September. Craig Terrill wrote a song for Gloria called Too Beautiful for this World, and also performed it at her funeral. Gloria and her family had gotten to know the Seahawks during Gloria's illness, and many of them in fact attended her funeral. (I went to the funeral with my family - not only did we see Seahawks players, but also the infamous Sanjaya Malakar, his sister, and mother.) You can check out Craig's songs and buy his album via his official MySpace page as well:

Gloria touched so many in her brief life, and to see others wanting to give back now definitely does the soul good. There's also a benefit auction coming up next month to benefit Gloria's Angels, so if anyone is in the Seattle area, and you want to know more, I highly recommend
visiting the site to find out about it. My Mom is going to be creating some special jewelry to donate to the auction, and is making pieces that she plans to sell, with all monies going to the charity as well. (I'll post pictures and info once she has some for me.)
As for other things related to Gloria's inspiring story, reporter
Jerry Brewer, who wrote the series for the Seattle Times, is also writing a book about his experience with the family. Not sure when that will come out, but I imagine it will be well-received. This is the kind of story I think would be make a very inspiring film, which is an idea I'd entertain if I thought I could pull it off. I'm not sure I'm cut out to take on such a important project, though, but I think someone out there should one day.
Anyway, I just wanted to share that, and thank Dori Monson of KIRO radio for featuring Craig and mentioning Gloria's Angels on his show today. A very special gesture for a girl whose legacy lives on and will continue to live on forever. :@ )
In other news, the Dalai Lama is in town this weekend, and it's supposed to get to 70 degrees here tomorrow. Whoa, too much good stuff going on, LOL.
