Various Random Things and Stuff.

Jan 31, 2007 09:57

Here goes all my randomly random thoughts for the day; kind of one of those long overdue things. (STOP - Ramble time!)

*It's the end of January already? How the hell did THAT happen? Seriously?!?! Although it means I get paid today, so I guess that's a good thing, what with rent and bills due again soon. @_@

*We have a window cleaner here today un-smudging all our winders at work. Wow, I had no idea we could see sunshine, and light, and trees! I also never realized just how dirty our windows get here!

*No drug testing for me...someone brought in some muffins this morning, and I just had this giant Lemon Poppyseed one. Yum!

*Speaking of work, it's going to be hectic again quite soon, as I've got the yearly Paint Association Auction to help out with this year, and this time it's coming up sooner (Mid-March), so I may be MIA at times, but God knows I like to slack off take breaks so I can stay social, too. Being busy is good, especially right now, as I'm sort of thinking a lot about how things were at this time last year with Grandma, and how much I miss her, and I know it's going to be a hard month or two to come, but I still wouldn't trade what I went through for anything.

*I think I have an outer ear infection in my right ear. This is about the time I tend to get them anyway; I had an *inner* ear infection in it last January or so. Great. I hate going to the Doctor, though. But, it hurts to rest my head on that side and it is aching, burning and such (and I can't hear very well out of it), so I should probably have it looked at. My gland is swollen on that side too, so my body's trying to fight off something. D'oh!

*It's been cold again, and I'm afraid Winter really just isn't done with us yet. This is not good. Especially given I get cold weather-related arthritis a lot!

*The cold weather also means we have still, hazy air that is driving my allergies even more crazy. And since I am still trying to figure out what the "wonder drug" will be for treating those, I've been a bit miserable, although I suppose it could be worse. Fun. My asthma has been surprisingly okay, but I attribute that to the Power Breathe device I bought a couple months ago. It's increased my lung strength quite a bit already, which is good, since I've never been able to take very deep breaths without struggling. (It does look a bit *obscene* at first glance, but trust me, it does work well! And that is my completely uncompensated consumer opinion!) I am hoping this will help with making my 3-Day training walks easier as well.

*On that note, it's time to start training for the 3-Day again; they're already airing ads on TV and the radio again. I've opted to be a Team Captain again this year, and at least I have until the 1st week of September to train this time around; I hope that means it'll be less intense, weather-wise. I can deal with rain, but extreme heat, no. I will DEFINITELY try and finish the entire walk this year, barring unforeseen circumstances. My Mom says she wants to do it again, only she'll be more careful and only plans to do 30 of the 60 miles as to not induce another medical emergency out of it. We'll see. And for those out there who might be interested - I highly recommend getting involved with The 3-Day and other similar events - it's an experience like nothing else and does a lot of good for the world. If nothing else, attend an "orientation" event and see if it sounds like your cup-of-tea. Giving back is a good feeling. ^_^

*I think I used the word "again" too much in that last paragraph. Oh well. (Again.)

*Since the more I hear about Windows Vista, the less it would seem I want to get it just yet, I have decided to make my next mission-at-hand to look into getting a Nintendo Wii instead. I'm not sure if they've become more widely-available yet, but I guess I can wait if I must. I'm not going to buy one for a jacked-up price, nooooo way! (Any good suggestions where to look, and what various games/peripherals I may want to buy with it?)

*I finally did something I've never done before: I cleaned up my LJ F-List! I didn't delete anyone who has friended me, don't worry! I only took out people who have either not been on in ages, deleted their LJs, or for whatever reason didn't have me on their F-Lists anymore. In doing so, I did discover in a few cases that sometimes the people you think you know, sometimes you don't really know that well at all. But, things happen, people change and I know sometimes we all have to "clean house" a bit in our lives. I used to take such things really personally, but I realize that's just life; we can't please all of the people all of the time. No hard feelings. I also added a few people who had added me and have probably been waiting patiently to be added back! So, welcome to the new faces, and best wishes to all the "old" ones who have since moved on. ^_^

*My name may be appearing in a DVD near you very soon! No further details to give just yet, but it's just a random something that came up and has quite a surprising story related to it. More later.

I guess that's about all I have on my mind for now (wow, how random this post is, though)...I'm basically summing up thoughts I've had all month, anyway. Here's to, well, yet another month that I'm sure will fly by, given Julius and Augustus stole those extra days from the end of it. ^_^
