No New News is...No News?

Well, I don't really know anything new about our guy Don here...he's still at Harborview, my Dad saw him for a time last night, but mainly they restrict visits to family (course my Dad is his Boss too, so he is allowed to be kept updated by the family).

Thanks for all the positive vibes, people!

They were doing some MRI's today, no results yet, and had put him in a "halo" last night (which basically stabilizes the neck and head to restrict movement). They still have him intubated, and I hear now that apparently nobody had done CPR on him while here; they were going to, but one of the other factory guys stopped Michael from doing it (didn't want to move him too much). The medics did the intubation and wanted to restrict his breathing I guess (assuming that they wanted to make sure he hadn't ingested any of the paint). He was responding to voices and was able to move his left hand and legs. They hadn't gotten movement out of his right hand and arm yet though. :@ o

Apparently the mixing tank had 250 GALLONS of paint in it at the time, but it would seem he didn't receive the full brunt of that (because I'm fairly sure he'd be dead if that were the case), but I went down and saw the residual mess in the Factory...we've got a ton of empty 5-gallon pails nicely covered with white latex paint now...anyone want some? LOL. Some of the equipment was splashed also, but that's pretty normal for paint to get on that stuff.

So, they have Don in the ICU, and are debating if he will need any surgery; he does have some minor fractures in his neck, though, and may need as little as just a neck brace, depends what they find. It would seem so far he'll be okay, but he's not going to be able to work in the Factory for awhile (which may make him stir-crazy, and I dare say he'll want to kill some people down the road). But, thank God he's okay!

He is SOOOO very lucky though, geez. And today again we have various L & I people coming to fill out the paperwork, and I had to come in early today so we could finish up some stuff (and I was here until 6:30 p.m. last night flitting about - I should have just stayed overnight, LOL), and my Dad is doing some work down in the Factory, since they still have orders to fill.

So, that is all I know. What a real freaky event, though. My Dad is still really edgy, and was so distraught last night, he was crying (which is rare for my Dad, trust me). We're all just so shaken up about it, and even though I wasn't here at the time, I can just put myself into the situation and it scares me. @_@

I promise to make some actual meaningful posts later when I can (and catch up on my comments), but right now I'm consumed by paperwork...OY! I believe I can now operate office equipment in my sleep...type type type...print, copy, print, copy... O_o

I guess I am sort of making up for never posting about work-related stuff though, egad! (It's much better to have a dull and humdrum week anytime, though!)

Update, 11:00 a.m. We just got a call from Don's daughter, and she says he is doing MUCH better; he's off the ventilator and breathing on his own, alert, and able to talk to them. I guess they have scheduled surgery for tomorrow, not sure what they'll be doing there, but at least it is a very marked improvement over less than 24 hours ago. Wow.
