Chapter Five: Bad Day for Little Kame
“I hate this day. I hate this day. I hate this day…” Kame said continuously under his breath, as he chops some carrots.
“Kazu-chan, ohayo,” Reiko greeted but since Kame was busy cursing he didn’t notice Reiko, his mom and Jin’s mom entered the kitchen.
“Is Kazu-chan alright?” Naoko asked Hitomi as they sit near the counter.
“It seems that my Kazu is in a bad mood today,” Hitomi noticed.
“Maybe he had a bad dream?” Reiko said softly.
The three women continuously talk about Kame’s bad mood. Little did they know that Kame could hear them clearly. Kame tries to ignore them but the weird thoughts of these women makes him very annoyed.
“Maybe he fell over the bed,” Reiko said.
“Maybe he couldn’t sleep last night,” Hitomi said.
“Or maybe Jin didn’t make him sleep last night, ne?” Naoko said as she smiles sheepishly.
“WHAT?? That’s not true. No one would ever agree with that, Reiko and Kaa-chan really know me,” Kame said to himself as he nod in agreement with his self.
“Hmm… good point there, Auntie,” Reiko agreed.
“Oh, my Kazu,” Hitomi said happily.
“WHAT THE-, I can’t believe that they agree and believe Jin’s mom,” Kame said as he was starting to get angry but he tried to calm himself.
“What more if we left them alone, ne?” Naoko said as she laugh foolishly.
“That does it! I had enough of this stupid conversation. I’ll talk to them and clear everything,” Kame was about to turn around when he heard Jin’s voice, “Ohayo”.
“Ohayo, Jin,” Hitomi greeted.
“Did you have a nice sleep,” Naoko asked, trying to confirmed if something ‘good’ happened last night.
“Yeah, pretty much,” Jin answered. Oblivious on what his mother was thinking.
“You must be exhausted last night,” Reiko said, joining Naoko on her tasked.
“Well, not really. Kazuya and I were awake until midnight, ne Kazuya?” Jin asked Kame.
“BAKA!” Kame muttered under his breath. He wants to turned around and explain everything but he was too shy to face Jin. After all, he received a surprising ‘gift’ for himself when he woke up earlier.
“So, you enjoy each other’s company until midnight?” Reiko eagerly asked.
“Enjoy? Kind of,” Jin answered, still oblivious as ever.
“Kind of? Why?” Naoko asked curiously.
“It’s because Kazuya was shy, so I take the initiative to do the first move,” Jin answered innocently.
“Oh…,” Naoko said as she gave her pervert grin.
Hitomi and Reiko gasped and covered their mouth with their hands. They were surprised about Jin’s statement. They can’t believe that Jin and Kame already did ‘it’, even though they didn’t.
Kame had enough of this nonsense. He stopped what he was doing and excused himself out of the kitchen.
“What happened to Kazu-chan?” Reiko asked as she turned her gaze to Kame, who just got out the kitchen.
“He might have heard our conversation,” Naoko whispered to Hitomi and Reiko.
Jin opened the fridge and gets a carton of fresh milk, since he noticed that there’s still nothing for breakfast. He opened the carton and drank some milk. Before he leaves the kitchen, he looked at his mom and asked, “Mind to make a breakfast?”
~*~
Kame went to the balcony. He was so frustrated. Now, everybody thinks that he and Jin had a wild affair last night.
“I hate this day! I hate this day! I hate mom and Reiko for believing Jin’s mom! I hate Jin for being stupid! Stupid Jin!!” Kame said as he cursed everyone under his breath.
“Seems to me that you’re in a bad mood today,” Kazuya was startled at Jin’s sudden appearance behind him. He turned around and saw the older man walking near him with a carton of fresh milk in his hand.
“I’m not in a bad mood,” Kame said as he tried to hide his angry face. “Why does everyone think I’m in a bad mood?”
“Yeah, right. Well, anyway, why did you left?” Jin asked as he leaned his forearms on the handrails of the balcony.
“Nothing, I just need some fresh air,” Kame said as he faced the beautiful scenery that can be seen from the balcony.
“Ah…,” Jin said and then, he drank some milk.
Kazuya saw that and said angrily, “Why did you do that?”
Jin looked at him confusedly and asked, “What?”
“The way you drink that milk,”
“What? What’s the problem with it?” Jin’s still confused.
“It’s disgusting,” Kame said as he make a disgust face.
“What? How am I supposed to drink it huh? And besides, I don’t mind to drink this way,”
“Well, I mind it. You’re not the only one who drinks milk here and that milk you’re drinking is not only yours. You had contaminated that milk with your saliva,”
“And so, if I’m contaminated it, it’s not like it will gonna kill somebody. I don’t have any diseases, you know,”
Kame rolled his eyes. “Whatever,” Note to self, never ever tried to drink milk. It might be contaminated by Jin’s saliva. And I don’t want that, it’s disgusting and it’s like… it’s like an indirect kiss.
Jin offered the milk to Kame but Kame refused. “Suit yourself,”
Jin continued on drinking the fresh milk. Kame looked at him until his gaze ends up on the latter’s lips. Kiss? He suddenly remembered what had happened this morning. “Oh my god! What have I done?”
~*~
A little sunlight struck Kame’s face, making him move his face to the opposite side. Then, he felt something, something that’s very unusual. Something soft, something wet, something… “Something like, lips,” Kame quickly opened his eyes. He widened his eyes as he saw Jin’s face so close to him. He parted his lips from Jin’s.
~*~
Kame felt his face warming up. He turned his gaze to the ground, trying to hide his face to Jin. He doesn’t want the latter to know that his blushing. Jin might ask about it and you know Kame, he’s not good at lying.
“What’s wrong?” Jin asked after he finished drinking.
“Na-na-nothing,” Kame answered as he tried to hide his face.
Jin tried to look at Kame’s face but the young man keep on hiding it. “I know something’s wrong. Is there something wrong with your face? You keep on hiding it from me,” he said.
“No, there’s nothing wrong,” Kame said.
Jin grabbed Kame’s shoulder and made the latter faced him. Kame looked more embarrassed, making his face redder than what it was before.
“You’re blushing?” Jin laughed at the latter’s face.
“Hey, it’s not funny,” Kame pouted.
“Yes it is,” Jin said trying to control himself from laughing more. “Your face is red as a tomato,”
“No, it’s not!” Kame protested.
“Yes, it is,” Jin fight back.
“No, it-,” Kame was suddenly cut off by Jin. “And I find it cute”.
Kame’s was surprised that it made him more embarrassed. He can’t stop himself not to smile on what the latter said. It made his face flushed more than ever.
“Pfft… hahaha!!! You’re face is so much redder than before,” Jin said as he laughed out loud.
Kame pouted. “Argh~ you’re so… so… annoying!!!!” he shouted as he pouted some more.
“Hahaha!! Oh, Kazuya, you are so cute when you do that,” Jin said as he wipe the tear that is forming in his eye.
“Do what?” Kame said, still pouting. He feels so annoyed by Jin. Jin is saying that his cute but then his going to laugh. It’s a little annoying and insulting to Kame.
“That,” Jin pointed of Kame’s pouted lips. “You are so cute,” he added. He placed his hands of the young man’s cheeks and pinched them hard.
“Aww!!! That hurts,” Kame complained as he rubs his cheeks. Because of too much hurt, tears started to form in his eyes.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you cry,” Jin felt a little guilty.
Kame smiled. “No, it’s alright,” he said as he wiped the forming tears in his eyes. Jin smiled, feeling relieve that he didn’t made the latter hurt that much.
Everything was going to well between them. Maybe because there mothers are best friends that it didn’t take long enough for them to feel at ease with each other.
“Ahem~,” Jin and Kame was startled by the voice. “Why don’t you two lovebirds eat breakfast first before you continue your lovey-dovey. After all, you guys need energy, ne?” Naoko said as she winks at Jin and Kame. Clearly, this woman misinterprets everything, even Kame’s mother and Reiko.
Kame was about to explain to Naoko and the other two that they misinterpret everything but Jin drag along with him towards the dining table.
“I’ve never thought they will be this close,” Hitomi said as wipe a tear in her eye and then, sniffed.
“Yeah, me too. I guess they already accepted that the fact that they are going to be married soon,” Naoko said as cover her mouth by her handkerchief.
Reiko rolled her eyes. “These women are so good at acting,” she said to herself.
~*~
“Bye, Jin! Bye, Kazu!” Reiko bid goodbye. She went outside the condo, first. Then, followed by Hitomi and Naoko.
“Kazu-chan, call Kaa-chan, ok? Kaa-chan and Tou-chan will wait for your calls,” Hitomi said to his son.
“Yes, Kaa-chan. I will but don’t expect me to call often,” Kame said to his mom.
Before they leave, Hitomi gave her son a peck in the cheek. “Be good, ok? Don’t be a trouble to Jin”
“No problem, I won’t,” Kame answered as he hugs his mom.
Naoko saw this scene from Hitomi and Kame that she thought to do it to his son.
“If you need anything or if there’s a problem call us, ok?” Naoko said.
“Yes, yes. We will, now, goodbye,” Jin said to his mother.
Naoko pouted her lips and move forward to kiss his son but unfortunately, Jin backed off.
“What are you doing?” Jin said. He was surprised by his mom.
“I’m going to kiss you goodbye,” Naoko said while her lips are still pouted.
“WHAT? Ok, you creep me out,” Jin said.
“Mou~ I just want to kiss you goodbye,” Naoko said as she put her pleading eyes.
Jin looked at his mom. He doesn’t want to allow her to do this childish thing to him but he had to, after all she is his mom. Then, he heard giggles from Kame and his mom. It made him felt embarrassed, but it didn’t made him change his thought.
“Ok, fine. Do it,” Jin said as he offers his cheek to his mom. His mom quickly kisses him.
“Goodbye, Jin! Goodbye, Kazu-chan!” Naoko bid farewell.
Jin was about to close the door when suddenly his mother hold the doorknob from outside and prevent it from closing.
“What do want again?” Jin asked annoyingly.
“Are you sure you two are ok by yourselves? We can still stay, if you want?” Naoko offered to stay.
“No, you can’t. And besides, it’s not like we go on safari. We are just going to live together and nothing else. You just worry too much,” Jin said as he refused his mom’s offer.
“Oh, ok! Goodbye,” Naoko said as she waved her hands to Jin and Kame.
“Bye, mom,” Jin said and closed the door immediately before his mom tries to stop it again.
Kame and Jin went to the living room. Jin opened the television and Kame sat down on sofa.
“At last, they’re gone,” Jin said as he flopped down on the sofa.
“You really want them to leave don’t you?” Kame asked.
“Well, not really. But I just want to feel how to live alone,” Jin answered, not noticing that he’s not really going to be alone.
“Uhmm~ news flash, you are not alone. We are going to live together, remember?” Kame said with the look that says, you-are-an-idiot-aren’t-you.
“Yeah, I know that. What I meant to say is that, finally I’ve been free from my mom. She’s really annoying once you get to know her very well,” Jin said with assurance.
“Well, they can visit us everyday if they want to. So, it’s not really a freedom for you,” Kame said.
“Oh, yeah. I’d better tell call and tell her that,” Jin said. And then, the door bell rang.
“It must be mom again,” Jin expected that it’s his mom that is in front of their condo unit.
The door bell rang again. “What does she want again?” Jin groaned from annoyance.
“Do you want me to answer the door?” Kame asked.
“No, I’d better do it,” He stood up from his seat. And opened the door.
“What do you want mom?” Jin asked. This woman really needs to leave, now.
“I just want to tell you that we would probably visit you tomorrow,” Naoko informed him happily.
“No, you can’t,” Jin answered coldly.
“But why? We just want to check up on you,” Naoko said.
“Mom, can you just at least make it a week or two before you visit us again?” Jin suggested.
“Ok, but be sure not to do any harm to Kazu-chan,” Naoko said.
“Yes, mom. Now goodbye and don’t try to ring the bell again because I’m not going to answer it anymore,” Jin said to his mom and then, quickly closed the door.
Jin went to the living room and sat down. Kame was looking at him curiously.
“What did she say to you?” Kame asked.
“She just told me that she and your mom will gonna visit tomorrow. But I told her to just come by next week,” Jin said as he change the channel from time to time, trying to find a good show.
“Oh, I see,” Kame said.
And then after a while, everything became quiet. They watched all day, since, there’s nothing to do around the house.
