Chapter Three: Annoying Mother + Annoying Cousin = Insane Jin and Frustrated Kame

“Why I am here again?” Jin asked.

After the conversation that was made last week, Jin tried his best to make his mom take back what she and Hitomi had said. But no matter how he tried, his mom was more stubborn than him. No choice was left for Jin but to accept the fact that he was engage to a guy and now he’s going to live with him.

“Oh, son, how many times do I have to tell you, we are going to the condominium that we intended for you and Kazu-chan to live,” Naoko explained.

“Why do I have to be in this kind of situation,” Jin whispered.

Naoko heard it and said, “Aren’t you glad that I became your mother? I’m the most caring and the most responsible parent anyone could have, so be thankful for you became my son”. Naoko laugh proudly.

Jin rolled his eyes and sighed. He looked at the window and tried to distract himself from the annoyance that was starting to build up inside him.

~*~

After a few minutes, they arrived at the condominium that Jin’s mom is talking about. Jin went outside the taxi and gets his bag out of its trunk. He looked at the whole structure of the building and was amazed on how big it is.

“Woah~ this place is very different from what I’m expecting! I never thought that they are really serious about this,” Jin said to himself, being amazed on what his mother is capable of. “What are you talking about? You’re the victim here so don’t be amazed with the things like these,” Jin said suddenly, he shook his head to erase what he had said awhile ago.

Jin’s mom dragged her son inside the said establishment and went in the elevator. After a minute, they stopped at the topped floor and went out the elevator. Jin’s mom quickly turned into the west wing of the establishment. Jin followed his mom, who seems to be like very late in a meeting or something.

“Naoko~~ you’re late,” Hitomi, Kame’s mom, said.

“Gomen, Jin’s so slow on packing up his things,” Naoko explained. Jin looked at his mom in disbelief. “What is she talking about? She’s the one who’s doing her make-up for an hour and she’s going to put the blame on me? Honestly, what kind of a mother is she?” Jin said to himself while glaring at his mom.

While Jin was busy glaring at his mom, a lady in her twenties comes near to him and said, “Jin-chan, it’s been quite awhile since the last time we saw each other, ne~”.

Jin looked at the lady and suddenly widened his eyes. “What are you doing here?” he asked in surprised.

“Didn’t auntie told you?” the lady said.

“Told me, what?” Jin asked.

“I’m the one who designed the condo unit you and your fiancé’s going to use,” the lady explained.

“What?” the only Jin could utter right now.

“You know I’m an interior designer, right?” the lady asked.

“Interior designer? Since when?” Jin asked back.

“Honestly, what kind of a cousin you are? You don’t even know my occupation. I thought I’m your favorite cousin?” the lady complained. “How rude. It hurts, you know?” she added, acting as if she’s badly hurt by clenching her shirt in her chest.

“Ok, fine. I’m sorry, Reiko. I really don’t know. Wait, where did you get the idea of you being my favorite cousin? I never told such thing like that,” Jin said.

“I know deep, deep, VERY deep down in your heart I’m your favorite cousin. So, don’t deny it ok?” Reiko said sweetly.

“Says who?” Jin asked, slightly annoyed.

“Says me,” Reiko answered with a sweet smile in her face.

“Whatever,” Jin rolled his eyes.

“Hey, you two! How long do you think you’re going to stand there? We’re coming inside,” Naoko said as she opened the door of the condo unit.

“Hai! We’re coming, auntie,” Reiko said happily. She looked at Jin as stick her tongue out and said, “Beh!!” And before Jin could say a thing, she quickly run inside the unit. Jin smile and shook his head. He went inside the unit and found his mom and Kame’s mom being amaze on what Reiko had did to his ‘new’ home.

~*~

“I never doubt your skills, Reiko. You’ve done a very good job on designing this condo unit,” Naoko praised.

“Yes, and I really like the way you design every part of this place. It’s incredibly beautiful,” Hitomi said and then, sipped her tea.

“Thank you. I never thought that you like the place,” Reiko said shyly. She stands up from her sit and walked to where Kame is, who at this point standing out the balcony.

“Kazu, how do you find the place? Do you like it?” Reiko asked as she walked near the young man.

Kame looked at Reiko and nodded. “Yeah, I like it. You, sure, are great in designing,” he said as he makes a small smile in his face.

“Really, good to hear it from my best friend. Demo, why do I feel that you’re not happy?” Reiko asked.

“What do you mean?” Kame asked back.

“Well, I can see in your eyes that you’re very troubled. May I asked why?” Reiko said.

Kame only sighed. He doesn’t really like the thought of having a guy to be his fiancé and the fact that they’ll going to live in one place is the worst. But he is slowly accepting it, no matter how ridiculous it is.

Reiko inclined her head and said, as if she read Kame’s thoughts, “Kazu, I thought you already accept the fact that you’re going to be Jin’s fiancé?”

“I am,” Kame answered.

“Then, what are you being troubled for?” Reiko asked.

“Well, you see…,” Kame said softly. He bit his bottom lip as he feels a little embarrassed to continue his sentence.

“What, Kazu? I can’t hear you,” Reiko asked as she placed her ear near Kazu’s lips.

“You see, I’m not used to share a bed with someone,” Kame whispered shyly as his pale cheeks became very red. Upon hearing this, Reiko laughed so loud. She can’t bear what her best friend had said. She’s almost like crying from laughing so hard.

“Mou~ Reiko, that’s not funny,” Kame whined.

“Yes, it is,” Reiko said as she gasped for some air and then, continue on laughing again.

Kame pouted and said, “Are you finished laughing?”

“Just… just a moment,” Reiko said and placed her left hand on Kame’s shoulder and the other one in her stomach. After a minute, she wiped her tears and said, “Oh, Kazu. You almost kill me from laughing”.

“So, this is what I get from my BEST friend. Laughing at my worries and not even helping me,” Kame said as he was annoyed at Reiko.

“Gomen, but you can’t blame me about it. I mean, I never thought that you’re gonna be troubled about such a thing,” Reiko said.

“Well, so~~rry about that,” Kame said starting to get mad at Reiko.

“Kazu, think about it, what do you think is the purpose of the guest room?” Reiko asked.

“For the guest to sleep,” Kame answered.

“And,” Reiko said.

“And?” Kame doesn’t get what Reiko was talking about. Guest room is for guest, so what’s the connection between his problem and the guest room?

“It’s for…,” Reiko said as she gives Kame a hint, which the latter don’t really understand.

“Ok, Reiko. I don’t really get you. Just please, tell it to me,” Kame said as he gave up on Reiko’s ridiculous guessing game.

“And it’s for Jin,” Reiko said.

“What?” Kame asked curiously.

“Don’t you get it? The guest room is not really meant for a guest. It’s for Jin, you two have  separate rooms. Well, when there are other people it is considered as a guest room but when it’s just the two of you then, its Jin’s room. Now, do you get it?” Reiko explained.

“Ahh… I now get it,” Kame said in relieved.

“See, that’s how I love you,” Reiko placed her arm around Kame’s neck. “I everything for my best friend,” Reiko said happily. Kame smile at her.

“Best friend?” Jin came near them holding an opened can of soda.

“Yes, Jin-chan. Kazu is my best friend,” Reiko answered.

“How?” Jin asked.

“Well, I live next at Kazu’s house,” Reiko said.

“And?” Jin asked again.

“What do you mean, ‘and?’” Reiko raised one of her eyebrow.

“And how the two of you became that close. Because basically, being neighbors will not make both of so close,” Jin explained

“But it did, didn’t it? You can see how close we are, right?” Reiko said as she smiles sweetly.

“That smile again. It really creeps me out,” Jin said in his thoughts. “Whatever,” Jin rolled his eyes as a sign on defeat.

“Kazu, meet my stupid cousin that I’m always telling you about,” Reiko said to Kame.

“Oi! I’m not stupid!” Jin protest.

“Yes you are, ne Kazu?” Reiko asked Kame. Jin looked at Kame, waiting for answer.

“Ah… well,” Kazu looked at the ground and slowly nodded.

“See, even Kazu agree that you’re stupid,” Reiko said happily.

Jin pouted. He can’t believe that even his fiancé will agree with Reiko. “He’s my fiancé, he shouldn’t agree with Reiko that easily. He should be on my side,” Jin cursed under his breath.

~*~

The time passed by and the sun is already setting. Hitomi, Kame’s mother, and Naoko, Jin’s mom, were in the kitchen cooking their dinner. As for Jin, Kame and Kaori, they are in the living room watching a movie.

“Do you know that my Kazu-chan dishes are the best?” Hitomi said as he chopped the onions slowly.

“Really? Good to know that, since Jin only do in the kitchen is to eat and nothing else,” Naoko said laughed.

“Well, I think they will be compatible for each other,” Hitomi said. Both of them giggled as they continue of cooking.

~*~

Evening struck and Jin expects his annoying mother, ‘favorite’ cousin and Kame’s mother will leave their new home, but thanks to his oh-so-tensai mother it won’t happen.

“Why not the three of us stay here for tonight?” Naoko said.

“WHAT??” Kame, Jin and Kaori said all together.

“Why? Is there any problem with that?” Naoko asked

“Well, yeah!  Does ‘our’ and ‘condo unit’ ring a bell to you?” Jin said.

“I know it’s your condominium but staying here tonight will not hurt, right?” Naoko said.

“Naoko, let the boys be alone for now,” Hitomi tried to change her best friend’s decision.

“Oh, so that’s why Jin wants us to leave. He wants to get close to Kazu-chan,” Naoko said happily. “Nice one, my son,” she tapped her son’s shoulder.

“No, it’s not like that,” Jin protest.

“I understand son, we’re going to leave now. Be good to Kazu-chan, ok?” Naoko said.

Then suddenly, Kame opened his mouth and said, “Please, stay”.

Everyone looked at him. Naoko smiled happily. She hugged Kame and said, “Oh, Kazu-chan. Thank you so much!!” Kame just held a soft smile.

They all sit at the living room and started watching some variety show. Reiko, who is sitting beside Kame, looked at Kame and whispered, “Is this ok with you?”

“I don’t know,” Kame answered back.

“You’re really aware that, this will make you sleep with Jin tonight,” Reiko said softly.

Kame sighed and whispered, “Yes, I am”.

“If you are, then why did you make them stay here?” Kaori asked.

“As much as I want to answer that, I can’t. I really don’t why I said that,” Kame said.

Reiko can see Kame’s puzzled eyes. She sighed and ruffled his hair. Little do they know, they were being watched by Jin. He looked at Kame intensely, making the latter set his eyes on him. Jin made a sign informing Kame to walk out the living room. Kame obeys Jin and they left the living room unnoticed by the other three.

“What is it?” Kame asked.

“Why did you let them stay here?” Jin asked back.

“I really don’t know,” Kame answered.

“What do you mean, you don’t know? You told them to stay and you’re going to tell me you don’t know?” Jin said, a little annoyed.

“I’m sorry, but I really don’t know,” Kame said sadly and looked down.

Jin sighed. No matter how annoyed he may be, it’s no match to the latter’s sad face. “Next time, don’t say things without any reason, ok?” Jin said calmly. Kame looked at him and smiled as he nodded.  “Good thing, they’ll only be here for a night,” Jin added.
