Remedy for the Broken Faith

Summary:

~Jin decided to study in L.A. He promised to his best friend, Kame, that he will come back after six months. Five years had passed and still, Jin hadn’t come back. Kame, knowing that Jin will come back one day, still waited patiently. Everyday, Kame keep his faith for Jin’s promise, even though it has been broken for a long time. Then one day, Jin came back from L.A. Kame was so happy to found out about Jin’s return. But to Kame’s innocence, Jin already had a girlfriend and he brings her to Japan. What will happen if Kame found out about Jin having a girlfriend without even telling to him? How will he deal with it? How will their friends react about Kame’s behavior? How will Jin remedy Kame’s broken faith?

Chapter Three: Jin

“Huh?” the only thing Kame could utter right now.

“I said, I’m Jin,” the voice repeated.

Kame gave a laugh and said, “You can’t possibly be Jin. Jin is in L.A and he never called me after he left Japan”.

“Kame, I just came back from L.A,” the voice said.

“No, it can’t be you,” Kame said in shocked.

“Yes, it’s me,” Jin said.

“…,”

“Kame?”

“…,”

“Kame,”

“I’m sorry…,” Kame said in a sad voice.

“Why are you saying sorry?”

“I’m sorry… it’s just that I never thought you’re coming back,”

Kame feels sad, knowing that Jin had come back. He should be happy, right? Now, that the person he was waiting for so many years are now near to him. But why does he feel so sad? And he feels like crying but he needs to control it or otherwise Jin might notice it.

“You don’t need to say sorry. It should be saying sorry to you. Since I didn’t inform you about this,” Jin said.

Kame gave a soft chuckle, controlling the sadness in him, and said, “Yeah, you should be”.

“So, why don’t we meet tomorrow?” Jin said happily.

“Tomorrow?”

“Yeah, tomorrow…,” Jin was cut off by someone.

“Jin~~” a voice of a woman based from what had Kame heard.

“Kame, let’s meet tomorrow at the hiding out we used to go before,” Jin said quickly. Kame was frozen after hearing the voice of the girl from the other line. Pain continuously stabbing his heart.

“Kame, are you still there?” Jin asked as his best friend starts to be silent again.

Kame smiled bitterly and answered, “Yeah, I’m still here”.

“So, are we going to meet tomorrow or not?” Jin asked.

“Yes,” a plain answer from Kame.

“Good, so it’s been decided. Tomorrow morning, 10 AM to be exact. We will meet at the hiding place. Don’t forget about it, ok?” Jin said happily.

“Hai, I will not forget it and I hope you wouldn’t,” Kame said and force to laugh.

“Mou~~ you know very well that I never been late before,” Jin said.

Another pain was struck into Kame’s heart. How could he know this guy very well if he left for 5 years? He barely knows Jin’s appearance. Kame sinks in to the past as he reminisce the young Jin before, the guy whom he fell in love with all this time. The brown-dyed hair that he loves to touch, the eyes and the stares that slowly captures his breath, the lips that tempts him to kiss, the hands that he wants to hold forever, the laugh that gives tickle to his heart…

“Jin~~” the woman called Jin again. This made Kame suddenly snapped out of his world.

“I need to go now, Kame. Bye! Don’t forget about tomorrow,” Jin said and then, hung up.

Kame hadn’t even bid goodbye. He put the phone down and sighed. He put his hand to his chest and clenched his shirt. It was too painful for him. He doesn’t know why but he wants to cry and scream with all his might. He wanted to do this until he feels satisfied. Tears was about to fall from his eyes when his sister came.

“Onii-chan, what took you so long?” Aya asked.

Kame looked at his little sister and said, “It’s nothing. Come on let’s eat, before the food gets cold”.

“Mou~~ but the food is already cold,” Aya said.

“Gomen,” Kame said with a fake smile in his face.

Kame can’t stop thinking about his meeting with Jin tomorrow. After five years of waiting, he will finally meet the person he truly loved all this time. He closed his eyes and trying to remember their conversation a few hours ago.

‘Jin~~’ Kame suddenly remembered the voice of the woman calling his best friend. “Who could she be?” He began to think whose the woman with Jin could be. “His cousin, a friend or…” He stopped for awhile, he knows that the next one will gonna hurt him a lot. “A girlfriend,” He just felt a dagger stabs his heart. Tears start to form into his eyes as he hugs his pillow tightly in his arms, finding some comfort from it. It hurts a lot to know that Jin had finally found his love.  “And here I am waiting for him,” Kame said and makes a small chuckle for his stupidity. “I sure am stupid. I can’t believe, I hoped that someday he will notice my feelings and loved me back”.

After crying for a few minutes, he got up from his bed and went to the balcony. He looked up and saw the dark sky covered with bright stars and the moon that gives such a serene view. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He clasped his hands together and said softly, “I wish this was only a dream”.

“Onii-chan, are you alright?” Kaori asked.  They were eating their breakfast when they realized that Kame was spacing out.

Kame was in a deep thought that he didn’t manage to respond on his sister’s question. He wasn’t in the mood to talk as he was tired last night crying. Aya went to her brother and tug his shirt.

“Onii-chan,” Aya said softly.

“…,”

“Onii-chan,” Aya said again and tug his brother’s shirt hard.

“…,” Still no response.

“ONII-CHAN!!” Aya yelled.

Kame was suddenly snapped out from his thoughts and looked at his little sister and said, “Yes?”

“Mou~~ Onii-chan, you’re spacing out. Onee-chan and I called you so many times but you were sighing and looking troubled,” Aya said.

“Oh, sorry I didn’t notice that,” Kame apologized.

“It’s ok, Onii-chan. But seeing you sighing again and again, makes me think that you have a very big problem. Well, is there?” Kaori asked.

Kame wants to say yes but he decided not too. “No, there isn’t. I’m just tired because of schoolwork, that’s all. So don’t worry about me, ok? I’m practically fine,” Kame said with assurance.

“Ok, if you say so. But don’t overdo it, we don’t want to take care an old man like you, you know,” Kaori said,

“Yeah, yeah, I kno… Hey! I’m not old,” Kame happily protested. Aya and Kaori laughed.

Kame felt enlightened seeing his sisters happy. He doesn’t want them to be troubled about his problem so it’s better to keep it. Curious about the time, he looked at his watched and shocked to know that it’s already 9:30 AM. “Oh shoot! I’m gonna be late!”  Kame hurriedly took his shower and dressed up. He quickly left the house right after he bid goodbye to his sisters. “Jin might kill me for this”. He ran as fast as he could. The place was just a few miles away from his house so being late is not an excuse.

Kame arrived at the secret place that he and Jin used to go. He looked for any sign of Jin but there’s nothing. He gasps hard as he tries to catch his breath. And then, he looked around and said, “It’s been awhile since the last time I visited this place”.  The field was huge and covered with dandelions. And at the center of it was a very big Cherry Blossom tree. He went near the tree and hugged it. “I missed this place so much,” Kame uttered happily. It’s been as beautiful as it was the last time he saw it. “No wonder Jin likes to come here when we were little,” he whispered.

“Kame, let’s go,” Jin said.

“Where?” Kame tilted his head with curiosity in his face.

“To a paradise,” Jin answered.

The only thing Kame could remember was they were running so fast and then the next thing he knew was, they end up in a field, a very beautiful field of dandelions. Kame looked around and was mesmerized by the place.

“So what do you think?” Jin asked proudly.

“It’s was beautiful,” the only thing Kame could utter. He walked near the dandelions and picked one. He blew it and seeds of it were dispersed in the air.

“I’ve discovered this place a few days ago and I was mesmerized by its beauty,” Jin said.

Kame looked at Jin and said, “Well, you really found a great treasure”.

“Yeah, and Kame…,” Jin said and walked near his best friend.

“Yes?” Kame said happily.

“Belated Happy Birthday,” Jin said shyly.

“Jin,” Kame was surprised by what Jin had said.

“Well, you see… hmm… you see, you always give me present when it’s my birthday and when it comes to your birthday I never had given you any. So, when I found out about this place, I thought that this will be a good gift for you. And-,” before Jin could explained further, he was hugged by Kame.

“Jin, I don’t need any gift from you. Celebrating my birthday with you is enough for me,” Kame said happily. He let Jin go and said, “I never thought that you will surprise me with this. You don’t know how happy I am”.

“So, you liked it?” Jin asked.

“Of course I do. And I really ,really loved it,” Kame said happily.

“I really do,” Kame said.

“You really what?” a voice asked.

“I really loved it,” Kame answered.

“You do realize that it’s a tree you are confessing,” the voice said and laughed.

Upon hearing the laughs, Kame quickly opened his eyes and detached himself from the tree. He turned around and saw Jin laughing at him.

“Kame you really are funny,” Jin said happily.

“And you are annoying,” Kame said back.

Jin walked near Kame and said, “It’s been so long since the last time I saw you”.

“Yeah, it’s been five years to be exact,” Kame replied.

Jin suddenly hugged him tightly and said, “I missed you so much”.

Kame was shocked about Jin’s sudden move, but hearing him say “I missed you so much” made his heart skip a beat.

“I missed you too,” Kame said and closed his eyes.

Kame felt so happy. And he really like this what he is experiencing now. He waited so long to be in Jin’s side again. It was liked a dream to him to be in his best friend’s arms again. “If this is a dream, I wish I wouldn’t wake up,” Kame said to himself.

“Jin,” a voice of a woman called. Kame opened his eyes in shocked. “That voice, it remains me of the voice of the woman on the phone last night,” Kame said to himself. Jin let his arms go and stepped backwards. Kame looked at Jin and saw the woman standing beside him. The woman smiled at him and bowed politely. Kame bowed down a little and bitterly smiled.

“This is Kame, my one and only best friend,” Jin introduced Kame to the woman.

“Hi,” the woman greeted. And Kame smiled.

“And Kame, this is Naomi, my girlfriend,” Jin said to Kame.

“Ni-ni-nice to meet… you,” Kame was in the verge on crying upon hearing Jin introduced his girlfriend to him. He tries to control his tears not to fall and for his voice not to shake.

“Nice to meet you too, Kame-san,” Naomi said happily.

The woman was beautiful, as Kame sees it. She has a nice long brown hair and a pair of brown eyes. She has a fair complexion , rosy cheeks and very red lips. And she has a slender body. And as Kame could see, she seems to be kind.

Kame can’t really to disagree with this, the woman is certainly fit for Jin. “They look so good together,” Kame felt bitter.

“So, where should we go now?” Jin suddenly asked.

“I don’t really know Japan so, I’m just going to follow you wherever you go,” Naomi said to her boyfriend.  She interlaces her hand to Jin’s.

“How about you come, what you recommend us to go? You know we have the whole day to spend my comeback,” Jin said.

“I don’t really know, Jin. Maybe the amusement park will do,” Kame answered.

“Then, it’s decided. Naomi, let’s go,” Jin said. Naomi nodded happily.

Kame stood there, feeling so weak. He wants to cry, he really madly needs to burst out his feelings but he can’t, not that Jin and Naomi around.

“Kame!! Are you just going to stand there? Let’s go!!” Jin shouted as he and her girlfriend are walking away.

Kame looked at Jin and yelled, “Ok!! Just give me a minute”.

With no more sight of Jin and Naomi, Kame fell down in his knees. Tears start to fall from his eyes. “It hurts. It hurts a lot,” Kame said to himself as he sobs so loud. He placed his right hand on his chest and clenched his shirt.  He felt his heart being stab again and again. “I can’t take this anymore. I’m tired of being hurt again and again. I’m tired of it,” Kame said and screamed, screamed with all his might. He placed his hands on the ground and hit it with his hand. He continues to cry for a few more minutes.

He, then, stopped and fixed his self. He took a deep breath and started walking. Before he leaved the place, he picked one dandelion. He blew it gently and said, “I wished I could find my own happiness”.

Aya-chan (aya11) said that this fic is too much heartbreaking for kazu... i'm very, very sorry for that... =( i know some of you might hate this chapter but don't worry 'coz as kame had wished to find his own happiness, i'm certainly, definitely, possitively grant his wished... so please wait for the next update... (^___^)
