God..some people really make you want to scream, pull your hair out and generally stomp around like a mad person.
Damn it. I'm useless at this, I can never work out how to organize my thoughts and put them down, some times I wonder why I have a journal.
Ummm... anyway, the gist is that I'm an artist, and a lot of my work at this point in time incorporates a digital element, ie I use computer programs in the image making process. Do you think I can sell it? Mention the word computer and they think that for some reason the work is less worthy, no matter how many hours went into it. For me digital is just another medium to explore, a new way of doing things, how long is it going to take to convince people that it's no less worthy than an oil painting. (forever:-)
I would really love to get all the people who treat we with such disdane when I tell them I use computers and sit them down in front of one. Get them to give it a go, and see how far they get. Believe me, if they think it's some how easier and therefor cheating to use a computer, they would get one hell of a shock.
I'm not really that surprised by my reception, I've done a fair amount of digital photography over the years and been through the same process. Even now it's still not fully excepted, but it's getting there.
I guess I'll keep going with it, I know it will only take time for opinions to change, as I said been there, done that:-) I'll just redirect my frustration in to producing some more work. You never know come next month I might be thanking these people for winding me up and giving me some more drive. Although I can guarantee, they won't like what I'll produce;-)
