Oh dear. My first ever fanfic, The Problem With Love.

Alright. This is it. After ages of reading fanfictions and writing ones in my head, I've decided to bite the bullet and actually write one down. This idea was inspired by Brandywine's Arsonist Challenge. I'll admit it, I've been creeping some of your fanfictions, guys. I can't help it, you're all amazing writers. I must confess, though, that I only ( Read more... )

This was really lovely. Seth, wise but babbling, and Ryan's recognition of there being a method to his babbling was good insight. You capture the poignancy of their relationship so well.

Just one canon thing - Ryan has already turned 18!

Aww, thank you! I really love the relationship that Ryan and Seth have together. And whoops, that kind of ruins some things, hey? Crap. Sorry about that. There's my lack of knowledge showing for ya. =P

Very nice for a first fic. You have Ryan's angst and fear of being left, and Seth's babbling concern. It's the caring relationship that we all wish had been present all the time in the show.

Thank you! I know, I love Ryan and Seth's relationship but Seth does tend to...miss the boat, sometimes. I decided that for once, he should catch on and not talk about himself.

Hey! Nice work...you write very descriptively, setting scenes as well as emotional states-

"Horrified, Ryan realized that there were hot tears streaming down his face."- I've always pictured that. On the rare occasions his emotions get the better of him, that he'd be crying almost before he realized it. And mortified.

I like Ryan's insight into how different- yet essentially still the same- his life is, and the difficult decision to channel anger into physical activity rather than violence.

I really like that your Seth has learned not to press his friend to talk, but to read the unspoken signals.

I'm new at the writing and posting myself, so probably not as wise about advice or reactions as some here- but I enjoyed this. I'm glad you posted.

Hey, any comment's a great comment to me. I'm glad that you enjoyed it! I agree, Ryan's definitely not a crier but I can sort of see him being accidentally overcome with emotion, only to be even more angry and upset after having proven himself weak by shedding a few tears. (Or maybe this is just something I'd like to see. Hehe.) Anyway, thanks so much for reading and replying, it means the world to me. =)

What's with the fear factor? You're among friends! That being said, it's always an overwhelming feeling to take a risk of any kind, but I, for one, am very glad that you made the leap. For someone who is admittedly taking a crash course in "The O.C." and not experiencing the amazing characters and relationships that we've been celebrating (namely Ryan/Seth and Cohens+1), you've been a very quick study and really grasp the essentials fo the dynamic that is the trademark of the bond between the boys- when TPTB chose to acknowledge and showcase it that is- and so many of the qualities that define Ryan and make him so unique and compelling ( ... )

My god. I think I may have just peed myself a little! (Haha, not really, I promise.) I've read enough fan fictions to realize how respected you and your opinions are and how in depth and just generally excellent your comments always are, and I feel honoured that you read, replied to and enjoyed my writing! Thank you so much ( ... )

Wow. I hope you controlled yourself! I've never been accused of causing such a reaction before. Is that a good thing ( ... )

Yes, yes, of course almost making me pee is a good thing! Haha. Everything you said above is so true, and I really like your analysis of Ryan and Seth's characters. I especially agree that Ryan did all the work in making their friendship happen. Without his insane amounts of patience with Seth, it never would have happened. Thanks again for reading!
