recently i've been consumed with a few particular thoughts and going-ons, so now is the time to share them with you. you as in jennifer since thats probably the only person besides me who likes to read this thing every now and then haha. speaking of which, conyers club needs to have a revival because on those stressful/boring days where there is nothing better to occupy my thoughts, i'd like to have something (some people) to laugh at and despise.

i have joined crew as a way to fill the void of competitive physical activity in my life right now. crew is "rowing team" if you arent familiar. now i get plenty of exercise on the water and on the ergs (rowing machines). our first water scrimmage is against gatech in a few weeks. i hope we beat the snot out of them. recently for practices i have been placed in the stroke seat of one of the boats (other rowers in the boat follow my pace) and in a 4-seater (small boat with only four rowers) which is apparently difficult to keep balanced. another cool thing is that we have a spring break trip planned for FLORIDA on the BEACH!!! we will be practicing mornings and evenings everyday (getting really fit) and hitting up the everyday in between (getting really tan). our hotel includes breakfast and dinner everday, plus kitchenettes in every room - and the whole thing is only $115! its like the perfect trip. but on top of all the dues, fees, and junk for the team, i get to fork over a lot of money on a weekly basis. so to help pay for some of those expenses...

i have taken on a small job with mr. rowser's middle school band program running sectionals and teaching lessons one to a few days a week. its nice to make a little money and get to know some faculty and students in the area. this is a good thing for me because...

i am (unless some unforeseen paperwork disaster comes up) student teaching with mr. rowser at his new high school in the coming fall semester. he is really excited about this and so am i. this is a great way to make some connections and hopefully get some good job opportunities when the time comes. he gave me a tour of the school (which is still being built) and its really awesome. it made me feel like salem was a slum. he said he would let me have my own office (space permitting) and try to hook me up with a laptop for work. sounds great. we are supposed to have a meeting about the marching band program - what i see and what he sees. i think he expects me to work his band camp, which i would but...

i'm already on tentative staff for a new marching band/leadership camp starting this summer in southern georgia. my friend is director of staff and asked me at the beginning of the school year if i would join the team. food and lodging included, although not really sure of the pay as of yet (better be good). the camp is riding on the fact that the staff is filled with drum corps vets. it should be a great way to get my name out there as far as dci is concerned, and get to know some band programs from the southern ga/florida area.

thats really most of the deal thus far. school is really just practicing for my senior recital in april and taking care of the rest of my core classes, so i can focus on other things outside of classes for a change. grad school is one option, maybe vandercook in chicago for a summer program. many things right now...
