“There are 47% of the people who will vote for the president no matter what… 47% who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it.”

Oh man, I don't even know what to think! I'm reading all these articles about what's going to happen come January 1st when obamacare goes into effect and the Bush taxcuts expire! I'm so grateful that I have my teaching job, but at this point...I don't know if it's even something that I can count on having for the next year :( I forsee a lot of private schools shutting down bec. parents can't afford to pay the tuition, and consequently, schools can't afford to keep their teachers.

Btw, a lot of states have started petitions to peacefully withdraw from the union and start their own government. I don't know what state you live in, but there are 20 states so far, and Texas has reached over 22,000 signatures!

If you're interested, or want to sign, here's the link to the website with the petitions (have to register an account): https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petitions

The full article where I read about this (first heard it on tumblr, of all places!) is here: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57548572/states-petition-to-secede-from-union/

I don't know if states will be better off being their own sovereign, I can see it opening a pathway to corruption, but I'm not so sure it'll be any worst than being crushed under obamacare!

I would love to hear your thoughts on this turn of events though!!

Right-wing and left-wing states forming their own separate countries makes perfect sense to me. Potential for corruption? Absolutely. But we fought and won our freedom from Britain, we fought to free the southern states' slaves... this is what happens when you take one too many freedoms away from people. I'm from mostly Democratic Pennsylvania, but I would consider moving to Texas, regardless of the financial strain or relocating, if they "seceded from the Union." See how the "Obamanation" (love that term of yours, by the way!) and their pets like it when there are no working taxpayers to pay for the bread and circuses they call welfare!

I don't see how it could really happen (because I'm a cynic), but I would be THRILLED if it did. Obama probably wouldn't fight it, either, since he's a foreigner who hates the US and American values, anyway. He wouldn't have some profound, deep-seated, instinctive objection against "the Union breaking up" like a patriotic President would. Thanks for the news because I hadn't heard a word about it, but I will definitely keep my eyes open now!

Good luck with your job!
