She had to tell him. It had only been a few days since Jennifer had delivered the news of her pregnancy, but Jill knew she had to tell Rodney. Eventually, he'd figure it out on his own one way or another and she didn't want to deal with the fight that would inevitably occur if he had to find out like that. Their options on the island were limited and it hadn't taken Jill very long to come to the conclusion that this was happening, whether she liked it or not.
Adoption was still something to consider, but she still had to tell Rodney. Even then, she doubted that would be something he'd want to do. She doubted he'd be able to give their baby away to someone else and a little part of her thought maybe she wouldn't be able to do it either. Back home it would have been different. There was a big world to disappear into back there, but the island was small. She would never be able to escape it here.
Sitting on the porch of her hut -- John's hut, really -- she tapped a pen absently against her notebook as she waited for Rodney. She'd written nothing, but if she at least looked like she was working, maybe no one would ask her how she was doing.
Maybe Rodney wouldn't even notice anything was wrong when he arrived. Maybe she could just put it off for a few more days.
