Christmas Eve and I'm just taking a break from wrapping the last few presents and trying to catch some X-mas eggs on DCave (without much success). I'm kinda disappointed that I haven't gotten some peoples' X-mas cards - I was watching the mailbox like a hawk all day, but nothing got delivered. Damn you Canada Post! *shakes fist* They also managed to 'lose' an order of loose-leaf tea I made at the beginning of November (I just got it day before yesterday). Hmph! D:<
But even if I didn't get your cards, I still love all you guys! *cyberhugs*
I was watching tv earlier, and the History Channel was doing a program about memorable Christmas events/quotes. The one that stood out to me was in 1968 of the three astronauts on Apollo 8 reading from the Book of Genesis while orbiting the moon. I'm not a religious person by any means (and I don't think it was meant to be interpreted that way, anyway) but every time I hear the broadcast it never fails to send shivers down my spine. And the last line, to me, is the more memorable and inspiring of all:
"From the crew of Apollo 8, we close with good night, good luck, a Merry Christmas and God bless all of you - all of you on the good Earth."
christmas,
history,
my so-called life,
