(no subject)
So I made a purse, because all the pants I will be wearing to the new job don't have sufficient pockets for my wallet, keys, cellphone, etc. I HAVE a purse, but it's this white leather thing with a big "J" on it and you know what, I am just not that kind of girl. (I also have a army canvas one covered in "I ♥ Lesbians" patches and "I ♥ PORN" buttons, but that is not really a purse I can take to work.)
Thing is, I am probably better off with the white leather thing because this may be the dorkiest thing I have ever created.
The purse itself is made out of a navy blue button down t-shirt from Old Navy I bought a year and a half ago from St. Vince's for my Gert Yorkes costume. It's too small, so I never wore it.
The R medallion is silver modelling play on a button backing, painted red. The R medallion usually has these little...racing stripe spike things coming off the sides, but I wasn't sure I could do that without it a)looking stupid, or b) breaking off in a day.
The keychain was a gift from Shawn that used to have something else inside ("Only my cat understands me"). I pried it open and made a TCTF graphic to put inside instead.
The yellow belt was a godsend. I knew I needed to use a yellow belt for the strap but also knew I was never going to find one. I swung by the thrift store and YES, I found EXACTLY what I was looking for. It has these really hideous double-eyelets, but that's a small price to pay. I grabbed it because I was never going to find anything even remotely similar, EVER.
The lighting insignia may be a little big (I still need practice before I try to do it on a shirt), but over all, I'm happy. I think tomorrow I'll visit the mall and see if the disney store has anything left over, pins, pens, whatever.
I'm really very pleased with myself. :)
