So I did enough bento lovin' to keep me happy over the nine hour shift I have tomorrow:
Hoo boy. In the middle we have apple pieces with watermelon hearts, dashed over with lime juice. Above it is a box containing the very Japanese combination of baked beans with cheese hearts, macadamia nuts and some super healty madeira cake. To the right of that is leftover chickpea and cauliflower curry, very mild. At the bottom are two avocado filled onigiri in the form of bears, a wall made out of cheese, more madeira cake and some apple slices done with lime.
Not all of that is for tomorrow; the downside of a nine-hour shift is that I will have no desire to make my lunch for Tuesday's much more sensible five hour shift. So I just did all three boxes in one hit. The small box with the onigiri will therefore be stashed in the fridge until then. I doubt dinner, much beyond what I can microwave, is even really an option by the time I finish tomorrow.. At least I'll be well fed at work.
The best bit about all this is that I have upgrade from the sexy repurposed takeaway containers used previously to some super amusing boxes I found at a junk shop in Stones' Corner. The writing under the cat on both lids reads "I have to go diving, you know." This is exceedingly funny when you're hepped up on cold and flu meds.* The larger of the two has more, entirely non-diving related text:
I should probably attempt some sleep.
Also,
this person seems deeply skilled, or at least has good taste in art. I can't tell. It's a pity I haven't a scrap of russian.
*That's ibuprofen incidentally. Over the counter meds fuck me up no end. Heavens help me if anyone slips me an eccy -
nacho time.
