Part-time job blues.

Someone, anyone, get me away from this monotony. I've been sewing the same kind of basic tee for the past couple of weeks and I'm about ready to stab myself with a needle. Or stab someone else with a needle, whichever works ( Read more... )

They say an idle mind is the devil's workshop, I can imagine what boredom could make one do.

If you are thinking of going somewhere for fun, I suggest Paris in the late 17th century? That was its beginning as an center for fashion thanks to Louis XIV. The 1850's marked the beginning of the fashion industry with the invention of the sewing machine so it may be an interesting era for you.

Oh, Paris in the 17th century! That's genius. Is it sad I haven't been there yet? Well... I mean, I only started time jumping recently, but I should've thought of that earlier. I took History of Fashion just a couple of years ago, too. Memory, you have failed me.

Thanks for the suggestion, um...

Versailles would be at it's height and a more popular a tourist attraction than Paris during that era so it's understandable. History of Fashion, I have yet to try reading up on that. That's something to add to my weekend reading list.

Oh I forgot to introduce myself. Yanagi Renji, historical reseacher. Nice to meet you, and you are?

I've been to Versailles. It was so nice. I'd really like to go back sometime.
History of Fashion is great, really! I'm bad with remembering dates and names, though. I think what I really, really retained from uni was all the technical design stuff.

I'm Tachibana An. You probably already know this, but I'm an agent. Nice to meet you, Yanagi-san.

Maybe you could stop by after your trip to Paris? It would be interesting to see the French court there.
I'll take your word for it then. Ah, in your case, the technical design is more practical so that's a good thing.

I don't believe we've ever worked on a mission yet. It's a pity but I'm sure we'll end up working together at some point.

I might just do that. I really shouldn't take too long, though, in case I get a mission again. It's kind of hard not working on a set schedule sometimes.
Well no, I think knowing the history would be as practical, if not more, for this line of work. The outfits I've sewn seem to be accurate so far, but I always have to check the archives and ask others first.

I really hope so! You really know your fashion history, at least from what you've been saying so far, even if you did say you haven't really read up on it yet.

That's true but trouble has no deterministic pattern so hopefully you can enjoy yourself quickly.
True but if you knew your history a little too well, I may be out of a job. You could always come to me if you need some detail checking.

History is a series of cause and effects told in different points of view. I have just read on general histories which have a connection but not yet in the context of fashion. It sounds interesting.

I'd like to take a vacation sometime and time jump without having to worry about missions, but you're right. Trouble waits for nobody.
Thanks, I'll take you up on that offer sometime! Between sewing at my other job and missions for Time Prince, I wouldn't have enough time to do as much research as I'd like, anyway.

You seem to really be passionate about history. I'm impressed you manage to remember all that information.

Agents don't have any vacation leave? You could use that time to be a tourist for once but you do have your other job to worry about.
I'll just be here at the history department, you can just ask for me. Well, every mission is research in its own way at least.

Yes, guilty as charged. I just reread some sources again to refresh my memory.

Maaaybe we do? I just started this year so I can't really ask for a vacation or anything yet. The other job isn't really a big deal. They're practically making us design the same thing over and over again, with a few modifications here and there. Boring, at the most. Not really a lot of trouble.
Alright, I'll come look for you if I'm unsure about anything! It would be nice if you were assigned for my missions sometime, though. I feel like if you were to do the debriefing, there wouldn't really be any room for doubt.

I'm glad there are people like you to help out. My history knowledge is shaky, at best.
