Forgive the rambling...just thought I'd get a few of these thoughts "down on paper"--or pixels, so to speak.
I'm letting MotS rest for a little bit except for interludes while I let the next arc percolate, so I thought I'd start a new series.
I was so charmed by the snark in the S/B annual, and I'm so in love with "Superman Confidential" Clark, so I wanted to capture some of that vibe, the mix of snark and woobie.
I also wanted to make a really leisurely series that I could develop and play with very slowly, letting it meander and ramble and just kind of see where the relationship goes, from annoyance through respect through UST into slash. A lot of slice-of-life scenes, talking, snark.
Finally, I love imagining Clark and Bruce in somewhat odd settings, so I decided to bring them to Japan: four sections, four visits over the course of one year. The
page I have prepared for this should indicate just how meandering and slow I'm planning on taking it. *looks nervous*
The series plays fast and loose with canon but follows directly from the S/B annual. Superman and Batman have been active for less than two years now.
No "Birthright" in this verse--much as I love it, I needed a less worldly Clark, someone a little more legitimately close to the farmboy, just starting off in the big city.
Dick was taken in by Bruce a few months ago (he's twelve, the modern continuity's age for this) and Bruce just agreed to start training him before the cruise in the S/B annual. That means Dick has never been in the Robin costume and Clark has never met him.
No JLA yet--Clark is still trying to figure out if he can convince Batman to join and if he believes Batman can work on a team well.
The first story is ready to go and I should have it up by the time most of you are awake enough to read this. *grin*
