Fic Recs!
I like slash, but sometimes I crave character insight over romance, and genfic satisfies that need the most. And I've been lucky enough to come across some really great genfic lately that I thought I would recommend.
-- Nesting Habits by
pere_chan. The first part of a story about Alfred's childhood, a topic I'm endlessly interested in but is really hard to do justice. Rich and resonant and incredibly interesting.
-- Dancing Lessons by
icarus_chained. Icarus is one of my go-to folks for a well-rounded, complex Alfred. This story shows him teaching each member of the Bat-family (Bruce, Dick, Barbara, Jason, Tim, and Cass) how to dance in turn. Full of loving insights about each character.
-- One on One by
ani_coolgirl. Batman: The Animated Series has the best, most interesting and well-defined rogues in the world, and this fic is a series of clear-eyed and insightful vignettes about some of the rogues (Crane, Tetch, Isley, Dent and the Joker) in therapy. She gets their voices just right, every one.
