Scans: Trinity #10

Aug 09, 2008 13:03

This week in Trinity the mind-control hints continue in intriguing ways, and the Crime Syndicate shows up (but so far just postures a bit).

More to the point, Dick and Tim eat cukewiches and Dick gets his butt ogled by a talking gorilla in a metal corset.

No, really.

Seeing the Crime Syndicate drives Superman almost round the bend, which triggered a possible realization in me. When Diana was being so rude about Bruce and Clark while getting her wounds treated,
draqonelle  reminded me in comments that Diana is the avatar of truth--which, when pushed too far, could be rude and hurtful. Here, Superman--often considered the avatar of justice--seems to be over-zealous in his desire for justice, to the point of harming the team's chances (he loses his temper even more later and has to be restrained).

Would this make Batman...the American Way? I can't quite see that, unless I start making pointedly snarky comments about fear and paranoia, and I'm pretty sure DC wouldn't go there...

Good Leader!Batman! I love when he shows up.

Annnnd then Tim and Dick get to fight a flirtatious gorilla. And it is awesomely funny.

I am infinitely charmed by how polite Tim is here.  :)

Oh my, that's just...*falls over giggling*  Dick obviously gets this a lot.

Primat gets away and they go back to the cave to analyze the situation.  And I really, really love Dick and Tim sleuthing without Batman, somehow.  They're really awesome together.  The snarky banter is too adorable for words.

Cut to the bad guys doing magicky things:

So that's..

Batman:
Friend=Gordon's pipe
Foe=Joker's laugh
Foundation=Crime Alley

Superman
Friend=I think that's something of Jimmy's?
Foe=Something of Luthor's?  Is is it Barda's Mega-rod and meant to stand for Darkseid?  I don't remember those two being stolen.
Foundation=Unknown (either Kryptonite--which of COURSE has all been entirely destroyed over in S/B 49, so I'm SURE they won't use it here--or a piece of Smallville or a Fortress crystal, perhaps)

Wonder Woman
Friend=Etta's name card
Foe=  Unknown
Foundation= Unknown (just how they intend to get a piece of Paradise Island I'd like to see).

(Note:  How sad is it that Friend and Foe are really obvious for Clark and Bruce, but Etta seems re-introduced almost just so Diana would have a friend?  And I can't really think of an archtypal WW foe?  I'm not sure if this reveals my woeful lack of WW background reading or just that Diana is a much less iconic figure than Clark and Bruce).
