Jen's Fabulous Fannish Christmas!
I had a wonderful Christmas with my family, scoring the usual delightful books, jewelry, and candles. My favorite family gift, though, was from my four-year-old niece: a Sweet Tart. Three weeks ago she was eating some Sweet Tarts and was told that was her Aunt Jen's favorite candy, and she insisted on saving one to wrap and put under the tree for me! It was without a doubt the sweetest Sweet Tart I had ever eaten. My elder niece is, I suspect, going to be very special to me--she's a rather grave and solemn child who likes to be in a corner coloring as often as not. I caught my mother chasing her around with a camera demanding, "Look happy, Maggie! Look happy!" *sigh* The members of my family learn early that looking happy is perhaps more important than being happy.
All the while I was having my wonderful family Christmas, however, I was also having a secret fannish Christmas. This involved a variety of packages surreptitiously opened while my parents weren't looking, all of which made me beam like an idiot when I rejoined my folks. I got an assortment of Action Comics featuring Mr. Action himself from
vigilante_wake--as well as a hand-knitted dice bag, which filled me with glee. My mother thought it was a hat for my toddler niece and almost made off with it, cooing about how cute this would look on Clara while I tore after her yelling, "No! That one's mine!"
It wasn't actually a Christmas gift, but since I got it the 23rd...
magnolia_simms found me a DVD of "Superman: The Musical!" which I can hardly wait to get a chance to watch...*looks itchy*
paxwolf found matching Silver Age Superman and Batman Christmas ornaments! *scampers* I can't find an image of them online, but they're adorable! Batman is either dancing or laughing or both, I believe! I'll have to take pictures when I get back to Japan...
But I'm afraid all were trumped by
damo_in_japan's present to me...so awesome it cannot be fully comprehended by the fannish mind...
A SuperDictionary ZOMG! I...haven't dared remove it from its bubble wrap in agonized fear that I would harm it somehow! *goggles in amazed wonder* Now I can see Hal's duck fetish and Lex's cake-stealing capers firsthand!
So there you have it...perhaps a perfect Christmas. Now I'm in Florida with my in-laws until the 2nd and will probably have more time to keep up--and to post fic!
