The Arkham down the street...and other tales from the House of Extraverts!

Aug 28, 2007 22:41

Greetings from Maine!  I have a folder full of lovely, lovely bookmarks from LJ, and every day I find time to check out maybe one or two of them at most.  This folder has become my Happy Place, and when things get too extraverty, I close my eyes and imagine the wonders within it.  Ahhhh...

Largely I survive by finding little "hooks" in my life that ( Read more... )

"How would I describe this if I were writing it as part of a story?"
Hah! Believe it or not I was actually talking about this with my mum the other day, because I do exactly the same thing; if I'm not narrating my life to myself in my head, I'm narrating my latest blog post/story. She looked at me kinda weird when I mentioned it, but hah! to you, mum, other people do it too!

Hah! at your mother as well! I've actually heard quite a few people mention they spend a lot of time "mentally narrating" events as if they were stories or livejournal posts. I very rarely ever make the actual posts but I do very often frame experiences as "How would I express this on my LJ?" Very postmodern. ;)

Wow, I didn't know too many places like that still existed.

I also immediately thought of Arkham, and now I've got plot bunnies nibbling at my toes! O_O

Hope you're having a good trip! ^_^

Darned plot bunny! >_<

This fic practically wrote itself. I'm not sure it even needed me in the same room. O_o *shivers*

Ghosts

Thanks for the ingenious idea. ^_^ Hope I didn't steal any thunder with it. :p

Eeee, I saw you put up a story about it! I bookmarked it and can hardly wait for the time to read it in peace (along with Aftermath, lol!) *hugs* I love when I accidentally give people bunnies... :)

Sounds like an interesting trip, Jen! :)

I like LJ being your Happy Place, indeed! :)

I write stories in my head while I walk, drive, do chores, etc. Keeps me happy. :)

I'd do better on the mental fic-writing thing if I weren't apparently stuck on about three scenes. :) I've been re-writing them mentally over and over, but can't seem to frame the rest of the story around them yet! But it's still a good beginning point, I'm sure...

*scoff*

Playing with your niece on the play ground? You could TOTALLY work that in. *smirks* Just think - Every fangirl's dream to see bumbly Clark Kent surrounded by hyperactive little girls while Wayne laughs... that dignified, I'm not the one making a fool of myself and you wouldn't catch me dead with a mob of small sticky fingers, laugh.

*nods*

It's so doable.

Hmmm, I've never done B/S before... Maybe I'll spit out a drabble of the scene, just for you. *grins*

Yes, I do believe I will.

*scampers off*

OMG, you're totally right, that would be a great scene. *grins* Thank you, you've renewed my faith in the idea that it's never a waste of time to view anything and everything as fodder for stories.

You've never written Superman/Batman, eh? Mmmmm, I'd love to see if you come up with anything. (side note: you have a very beautiful journal layout!)

Ahaha, the writing challenge has been issued. 'If' I can come up with anything. *grins*

And, thank you, I like my profile. *pets*

Scary... Yeah, Gotham wouldn't exist if we didn't already have it, here on earth.

Yeah, it was an interesting reminder that Arkham is based on real hospitals and not that far off in its treatments. *shudders*

The really strange thing is that people don't go to Arkham to get better, they go to be tortured and get worse, but no one's noticed yet. At least, Batman and the law don't notice or don't care. God only knows what the State of New Jersey thinks of all of this.

By the way, I read another comment of yours where you said you were thinking of writing a fic where Clark visited the Wildstorm universe and met his and Bruce's counterparts. I totally think you should write that. If you don't, I might, and it'll be a lot happier and sweeter if it comes from you!

Ahhhhh, but what I'd give to see your version as well! They can definitely co-exist, I'm sure...*pleading puppy-dog eyes*...
