Songs: Ingrid Michaelson, Nicole Atkins

I came across someone using a file-sharing service called box.net the other day and it looked quite simple--it also seems to have a feature that lets you listen to the song before you download it, which would truly rock!  So I'm going to give it a test run here--let me know if it works if you have time and inclination.

Most of the time songs that catch my ear are S/B-themed to me, of course.  But these two remind me of Gotham and Robin and the Batfamily in general, in some odd and unsettling ways.

Ingrid Michaelson, "Breakable."  This is a beautiful, oblique song that hints at strange and possibly unpleasant depths of emotion and experience.  I was listening to it and suddenly became totally convinced this was a song for Miller's Robins--Dick, Jason, Carrie.  It freaked me out badly to think that and I've never been able to hear the song since without flinching, so I'll share that with you. :)  If
snake_easing's "All the Stars Look Down" had a soundtrack, it might be this song.
We are so fragile,
And our cracking bones make noise...

Have you ever thought about what protects our hearts?
Just a cage of rib bones and other various parts.
So it's fairly simple to cut right through the mess,
And to stop the muscle that makes us confess.

And we are so fragile,
And our cracking bones make noise,
And we are just,
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls and boys.

You fasten my seatbelt because it is the law.
In your two ton death trap I finally saw.
A piece of love in your face that bathed me in regret.
Then you drove me to places I'll never forget.

And we are so fragile,
And our cracking bones make noise,
And we are just,
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls and boys.

And we are so fragile,
And our cracking bones make noise,
And we are just,
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls-
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls-
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls and boys.
Nicole Atkins, "Carouselle."  A song for all the strange circuses and carnivals that go through Gotham.
In the streets the lights burn low
and children scream as they're held high
above the sea in ferris carts
their eyes alive

with mirrored hallways
done with creepy laugter ride the carouselle
here comes the wrecking ball
so my town can live
sell the carouselle

in the carouselle's last days
the strangers came and tried to save
they strive to save a history
thats not their own

but i remember
the thrill of it fantastic ride the carouselle
here comes the wrecking ball
so my town can live
sell the carouselle

here comes the wrecking ball
here comes the wrecking ball
