Wow, the last time I posted something on here was in May, more than 6 months ago. I wish I was one of those people who actually kept up with things that they started! Anyways, what follows will be a mini rant about being sick and family or being sick with the family around....
I am very sick with the flu right now and lack the strength to do anything except write on livejournal. Is it possible to be attacked by both the common cold virus and the flu virus at the same time? Last week, I thought it was just a normal cold and I was getting better, but after Friday, BAM, I got the shivering, the sweating, the vomiting, the aching, and pretty much every item under the flu symptoms list in one night. Sneaky, sneaky little viruses! So the past three days have been a feverish blur to me. I was passed out most of the time, and when I was awake, I was in so much pain I wish I was still unconscious.
My immediate family members are very strange. They don't respond to injuries and illnesses very well. When someone is sick or injured, you would think the normal response would be to offer assistance or sympathy or at least leave them the heck alone. But my family's way of showing concern is to lecture you incessantly until you feel you're ready to die just to escape the chattering.
If you were unlucky enough to trip and fall in front of them....."OMG, how can you be so stupid?! How many times have I told you to watch where you're going?!" And as you're limping on one leg in search of bandages, leaving behind a trail of blood, they would be right beside your ears with... "You can't even walk right. What kind of person can't even walk without falling? It's because of the way you live your life! It's because you always stay up late and read in the dark, that's why now you're blind and can't see anything. You're lucky that you fell on the ground this time. Next time, you'll hit your head on something and die! Die! And you better clean your mess up (referring to the blood that you're still trailing behind you) cause no one will do it for you!"
And if you were sick like I was these past few days.... "It's all your fault that you got sick! You're so stubborn, it's because of your lifestyle. You shower too many times in the winter! You don't eat right. What's this crap about not eating meat? I've never heard anything so ridiculous! No one else your age gets sick like you do. Keep this up and you'll die soon. Die!" And so on and so forth... Vary it a little bit every half an hour or so.
Ah, family.
