JIB - Day 1 - Friday - 2nd of April

Apr 10, 2010 01:31

Making my way through the radio
Trying to find a song I know
To take me back to where I’ve been
Just thinking about the days gone by
Brought a funny tear to my eye
And I wiped away the sadness with a grin
One thing left to do
Stay here with you
Steve Carlson - Days Behind

Okay, so before I start I have to say, excuse my English. It’s not my first language and so I might make some mistakes while writing. Plus, my memory is so bad I probably forgot something or remember something that didn’t happen so feel free to correct me :)
One more thing, this report thingie has totally irrelevant things in it too. The text is probably for the most part irrelevant 8D

And for those who don’t know a rat’s ass what is Jus in Bello, it was a Supernatural Convention, held in Rome between 2.-4.2010. The guests were Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester), Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester), Misha Collins (Castiel), Jim Beaver (Bobby Singer), Richard Speight Jr. (The Trickster/Gabriel), Traci Dinwiddie (Pamela Barnes) and Jake Abel (Adam Milligan). Our music guests were two amazing singers Jason Manns and Steve Carlson with his friends Darren Sher (keyboards, backup vocals) and Rosalee (backup vocals).

Day 1 - Friday - 2nd of April

I’m going to start from when I woke up. Well, I woke up in Finland. 4am Italian time, 5am Finnish time. Me and Noora, whom I had never met before this trip, did our morning things. For me it was mostly trying to get my bag’s zipper done. Easier said than done, let me tell you. Anyway, the cab came to pick us up around 6am (I’m going with Finnish time till we get to Rome) to drive us to the airport. The guy was weird, took a longer route, but we got to the airport in time and had to pay the same price anyway (which was, btw, ridiculously expensive. That’s what you get when you don’t want to wake up your sister at 6am to drive you to the airport).
So, Helsinki-Vantaa airport it was. We had plenty of time because our flight departed around 8:20. Jumped on the plane, enjoyed the plane food (I like it!) and then landed. Whoo! Rome! Got our luggage pretty fast, then got lost in the airport because we couldn’t find where we needed to go to get to the Hilton hotel. Figured we should ask. Asked some dude who told us where to go.

Got to the hotel. Took our stuff to our rooms, went back down to get our passes. Got my angel pass and photo ops (Jensen, Jared, Misha, Richard, Jensen & Misha and Malik). The dude there told me I would need to come next morning to change my Malik photo op. After that we probably took our photo ops etc. back to our rooms or then we went outside to breathe. Anyway, when we got to the hotel lobby, people were taking pics with Jake Abel. We decided not to bug him so just took pictures from distance. He left pretty soon and we went outside.
Well, while we were standing there, a bus parked in front of us. I saw Richard in it and we then realized it’s the Roman Holiday bus. Well, Misha, Richard and Traci got out, waved at everyone and went inside the hotel.

Seriously, at first this timetable scared the crap out of me. Didn't make any sense and too much happening at the same time!

The first actor we saw in Rome. He was nice to everyone.

When we went back in, Richard and Jim were having a conversation in the lobby. I was surprised (and happy) to see that everyone kept their distance and let the guys talk. People were taking pictures, but no one went to interrupt them. Richard left after a while leaving Jim alone. He went to sit on one of the couches in the lobby and people let him be for a while. Next time I know he’s suddenly surrounded by people asking to have a pic with him. Again we decided we didn’t want to bother him. But oh well! To hell with it. We had bought 3 mini bottles of Finlandia vodka, 3 bottles of salmiakki liquor, 3 bags of salmiakki (finnish candy) and 4 boxes of salmiakki. So we went to the end of the line and waited our turn. The conversation went something along the lines:
“We brought you something from Finland.”
“From Finland? O_O” Oh and by the way, he seemed to be pleasantly surprised we didn’t ask to have pic with him :D
“Yeah.”
“What it is?” Then he took his glasses out and started reading. “Salmiakki.” And he said it perfectly well!
“Yeah, it’s a finnish candy. And that bottle is some alcohol.” It was the salmiakki liquor.
“Thank you! Unfortunately I don’t know how to say ‘thank you’ in Finnish.”
“It’s kiitos.”
“Kiidos?”
“Pretty good!”
“Kiidos!”
Then something something and then we left to… somewhere.

The lobby pics.

Me and Noora giving our stuff to Jim. Thanks to Chiara Marino for this pic!

So then was the whole opening thingie. We went to the main hall and whoo! Our seats were in the 3rd row! Not bad, not bad at all. The Italian host dude, Andrea, said something and then finally, FINALLY, Misha Collins himself! Let me tell you, he looked pretty damn good with his sunglasses. He took them off though so we could actually see his pretty eyes. I have no idea what he talked in his panel, but for sure he is funny and knows how to keep his audience entertained. Well, I have plenty of pictures and videos from his first panel so you can actually see how awesome he is.

Misha and Andrea the host dude. See? Told you about the sunglasses.

Sneaky Misha is watching you.

Misha fixing Mel's tie.

My videos from Misha's first panel.

Then me and Noora had to hurry for Misha’s photo op (or hop, however you want to call it ;D). And so we missed the beginning of Richard and Traci’s panel. Noora brought bunny ears with her because Misha had said earlier on twitter to “dress appropriately” if you wanted to say “bonjourno” to him. He was smiled so bright when he saw the ears in Noora’s hands. Noora said her bonjournos to Misha and then asked if he could wear them. Of course he put them on and the picture was taken. Afterwards many people asked to see it and even take their own pics of it :D

See? He's adorable. Do not mind my face, I don't know how to behave while people is taking pics of me. ...My hand is weirdly on his shoulder.

From Misha’s photo op to Richard and Traci’s panel. Of course we were late but I got a few pictures and videos from there too. Oh boy those two are funny. Traci was blabbering something in Spanish (or Italian? I have no idea) and Richard was being his awesome self. They had some Twitter vs. Facebook thingie going on if I remember right. Traci asked if people are following her and all. Richard said he runs his own fanpage on Facebook and actually writes replies on people’s comments (he already replied to me and Noora 8D).

Traci's truly an amazing person. In the second one she was demonstrating how to play her drum thingie.

Richard. I loved him before, now he's beyond amazing.

Probably my favorite pic of Richard.

My videos from Richard annd Traci's panel.

Timetable told us it would be time to go get Richard’s autograph after the panel was over. So we did. When we got to the table, I was holding the salmiakki liquor in my hand and I asked the dude sitting next to Richard if we could give it and the salmiakki candy to Richard and at first he was pretty much “nope, you can’t”. Then me, Noora and Richard started to protest together.
“Whyyy? It’s just Finnish alcohol!”
“Come ooon!”
“Yes, you can give it to me!” And dude was till like “nope”. Then Richard had an idea.
“You can give it to him and then he later gives it to me”. What could dude do when Richard himself wanted the alcohol and candies? Nothing. So Richard wrote “Eriika - Thanks for the booze” on my scrapbook. Noora got an autograph with “I <3 candy” or something and then we were ready to run again.

I hate that I missed most of Steve’s first panel and didn’t even get to see the second. They better be on the DVD when it comes out. Anyway, I couldn’t quite enjoy his panel that much. Mostly because the host dude was somehow annoying. I’m sorry if I offend someone by saying that, but he kind of ruined Steve’s panel (well, the part I saw at least).

If you'll ever have a chance to go to see this man play live, go!

After the panel started the Cosplay Contest’s first round, but me and Noora left to get Traci’s autograph. She’s such a sweetheart! All smiles and kind words. She told Noora she loves his bow (I think she said, I know Misha said that later). Then if I remember right, someone said she had to hurry so she just wrote “E!” and her autograph on my scrapbook. Richard’s autograph was on the same page so she saw my name from there.

My three faves, Impala, The Trickster/Gabriel and Castiel

And the rest of the cosplayers.

Anyway. Next up was Italian voice actors’ panel and obviously we didn’t care about that that much. After that would’ve been SPN 4th season preview. Well, seen that already. Not with Italian dubs but for some reason I didn’t even want to see that. So instead we went to mine and Kat’s room. I’ve had downloaded episode 16 earlier and so we were going to watch that with a whole bunch of people. Duuude! The ep was something else! We had to keep quiet though because my laptop’s sound system sucks. I wanted to squeal and aww so many times during that episode.

Then finally after all my blabbering we get to the Cocktail Party -part. It was for the owners of the Angel passes (and Prophet passes obviously). Oh, and actors too (minus J2). The timetable paper says it started at 9.30pm but really, it started much later. Well, we got in, someone showed us our table. There was 3 (or 4? o_O) Italian girls already sitting around the table. So we took our seats and waited. A bit later one more girl joined us. I don’t think I ever got her name O_O. Yeah, I’m horrible. If you Swiss girl who were also in LA Con are reading this, tell me who you are xD We (well, at least me and Noora) had an amazing time after we finally started to talk with each other around the table.

So then. Sometime later our actors and musicians joined us. Most of them went to the Prophet Pass table but Richard came to the table that was next to ours. Geez, I could listen to that man talking all day long. He’s so much fun. But someone gave the microphone to Misha. And the fun really began. Of course he had to blame Richard for being late and of course Richard had to put his own two cents in. You people should’ve been there listening to those two. They’re deadly hilarious together. I don’t remember when I’ve smiled and laughed that much. Well, the mic went on. Next one was Jim. Everyone should get an opportunity to meet this man. He’s beyond the words. He’s funny and he’s awfully kind. Jim gave the microphone to Jason who pretty much just gave it to Steve. He said his thanks and that they’re looking forward to hanging out with us. He also apologized for them being late (Misha: “RICHARD!”) and then he passed the mic back to Jason. He summed it all up: Steve thanked everyone for coming, Misha told everyone it was Richard’s fault for them being late (Richard: “SERIOUSLY?!” in amazingly high pitched voice), etc. I think then the mic went to Traci, who was hiding behind some fan’s back. She was so great. She tried to say something in Italian which sounded like “potatitos” to me. Made me think of potatos. Then some fan corrected her and she blabbered some Italian for the Italian fans while the rest of us were just enjoying being there. She also wanted to have some music in the room but no luck. Then Traci passed our table and went to Richard (even though he earlier claimed to be just a fan). Traci sang some lines to him and of course Richard went along.
“Wow, this is hot. Could you guys give us a moment?” Oh maan. And guys, let me tell you, when Richard opens his mouth, the fun is guaranteed. Just.. watch this video by Priscila. Seriously, I was there, I had tears in my eyes because I was laughing so hard. His “Italian” accent is the best ever. The guy’s a comedian.

Oh wait guys. I’m too lazy to edit my post back there, but I forgot something. The Cosplay Contest final thingie. It was sometime, I don’t remember if it was before or after those guests’ speeches. I really liked Cas, The Trickster/Gabriel and Impala. I thought the actors were supposed to decide the winner, but I later heard that it was actually the audience that decided. Oh guys, you should’ve seen Richard when Cas (Mel?) and Gabriel (Becky?) stepped forward to have their little improvisation thingie. He jumped off his seat and was all happy and shit xD Anyway, because the audience decided and Bloody Mary was the only Italian in the final round, obviously she won. If I knew that actors didn’t decide, I would’ve screamed my lungs out when the voting was happening XD Don’t get me wrong, Bloody Mary was great but I thought Cas, Gabe and Impala were just brilliant.

So after the guests’ welcome speeches and all that other stuff was done, they spread around to sit on our tables. We didn’t get anyone at first. We waited soooo long before Jason stood up from the other table and came to sit with us. I think I was pretty much the only one talking to him XD At first he asked where we all were from. I told him we were from Finland and I think he probably asked what it was like because I told him Finland is “cold, we still have snow and shit”. I also told him I love his music. I probably said something else too, but yeah, my memory is not the best. He stayed for a while but had to move to the next table. I turned to Noora and asked why the hell they didn’t say anything. She said she was too weirded out because of Jason’s eyes and that she couldn’t look him in the eyes. I was pretty much wtf-ing XD

Then Steve came to sit with us. He asked how we were and I told him I was tired and he said he was too. I asked if he had a jetlag and realized right after that doh, he’s been in Europe for awhile now. And he also told that nope, he just couldn’t sleep more than 3 hours per night. Noora told him she loves his bracelets and btw, they were lovely. He was sitting next to the Swiss girl (who was sitting next to me. And seriously, what was her name?) and he asked if we saw his panel. I told that not the whole thing, but saw anyway. Then we talked about the host dude for a bit. I won’t repeat our conversation here, but it was entertaining XD

After Steve it was just us again. We were joking that no one wanted to sit with us because we’re so scary. Well, we had four or five free seats in our table. Finally Traci came. She asked if we had scared half of our table away and then was a bit more serious when she said it really was a bit hard to come to sit on a table that was that empty. She probably asked the usual “where are you guys from?” and then she noticed Noora’s nails. She had made them all pretty and had angel wings on some of them. Traci loved them and her bow and so she took a pic of them. She told us her Mac and phone wouldn’t work in Italy and she would upload them later on Twitter. Then she told Noora to take a pic of her and post it on twitter saying hi from her. So Noora did. Then Traci gave some attention to my hair. She pointed at my hair and said something like “you have this.. swuish!” or something and did this thing with her hands showing how my hair was on a lil fauxhawk (no, I wouldn’t actually call it fauxhawk but anyway). She asked if it was easy to live with a hair like this. I told that yes, it is. In the morning you don’t have to do anything if you’re too lazy. Then she suddenly was behind me and her phone was in front of my face while she tried to take a pic of my hair and I think her own face XD She showed the pic to me afterwards but I still have no idea how it came out.

After Traci left it was just us. Again. For even a longer time. Well, we had fun, but we wanted to have someone on our table. After a looooooooooong time Misha sat on our table. I think it was after some tables had already left. It was a quick visit, he pretty much just asked where we were from. Oh no, wait. There was also this George Clooney thing. I don’t know if he misheard something the Italians said or what, but he was suddenly like “I come from George Clooney’s shoulder” etc. And yes, it was pretty damn funny XD

After Misha left, we were being totally childish and embarrassing, but I blame the lack of sleep. Clock was probably around midnight and like said before I woke up around 4am. Actually we were being idiots even before Misha came to our table. Anyways. We waited damn long again. Or then it just felt like that. Wait, at some point the contact of my right eye popped out of my eye. It was freaking horrible. I was making some weird face (duh, we had to keep ourselves entertained!) and then just “pop!” and my vision went blurry. Well, now I at least had something to do when I tried to put it back. Not that easy when the contact was dry. In the end it was back in and my eye was all red and nice. We decided to blame Richard because it happened while we were waiting for him.

So when he in the end came to our table, the whole place was almost empty. I think there was only one more table besides us.
“I nearly went blind because of you.”
“o_O Because of me?”
“I was making weird faces and my contact popped out.”
“Why were you making weird faces?”
“Because we were waiting for you!”
Or something along those lines. And then Noora added her two cents to the story and Richard responded with “That’s the most disturbing story I’ve heard all night”. I don’t remember what happened next. He probably talked some more and left.

Jim was last but not least. Actually there were two if not three tables gathered around one because some hotel dude came to tell us we had to leave. So Jim asked everyone where we were from. We asked him if he liked salmiakki. He said he liked them but when he had put the opened bag in his pants’ pockets they all had fallen from the bag to the bottom of the pocket and when he took them out they were all sticky and stuff. Poor man, our candies ruined his pants XD He talked to everyone a bit and then we all really had to leave the room.

When we were walking out, Richard and Jason were talking and taking photos with people. Of course we had to use this opportunity. I wanted to have a pic with Jason. So I asked for it. Kat took the pic with her camera because I had left mine in our room for some reason. Then Noora asked Richard if we could have a pic with him too. Kat took that one too. Then we hung out for a while before we started to head to the elevators. I saw that Richard, Jason and some of the fans headed to the hotel’s bar but I was waaay too tired to go. I would’ve just made a fool of myself by being over tired and hysterical. So went to our room, tweeted some pics, gotfreaking many new followers (dude! I think I got over 60 new followers in 3 days!) because of that and went to sleep.

I think I said earlier something about acting like a normal human being in the pics. Jason is sweet! And taller than I thought.
Thanks Kat for the pic!

Me, Richard and Noora. Do not mind my weirdo hand. I noticed those two put their fingers up, I tried the same and failed because of my keycard.
Thanks Kat for this one too!

That was pretty much my Friday. Saturday coming soon.

Oh and. These are not all of my pics from Friday. If you want to see the rest, feel free to add me on Facebook: Eriika Kämäräinen.
