Well... This is an eventful day. I've finally worked through the first chapter of my first ever Fantastic Four fanfiction on the same day I post my first ever Heroes fiction.
Anyways, just so you know... This really was inspired by my mother, strangely enough. She knows squat about pretty much anything I'm interested in, but she tries really hard, and was attempting to have a conversation with me about F4. She then proceeded to say how much she liked that 'stretchy rock fellow, what's his name... Johnny von Doom. The invisible one.' Which amused me to no end, to say the least. Ever since then, I've been looking for an excuse to use the name in something. Admit it. It's awesome.
Anyways, here it is. A long and rambling multi-part epic about Johnny and Victor, with more Reed than I originally intended. It's set during Silver Surfer, when Victor temporarily joins the good guys. I'm not entirely sure how far this is going to go, or how long, so if you like it, please tell me so know to continue, kay? Thanks!
Now, without any further ado...
Johnny had never much liked Victor. Victor was all smooth confidence and slick assurance, where as Johnny was all rough bluster and crude arrogance. The older man had always made him feel like a country bumpkin. A peasant in the presence of royalty.
And that has been before the man had tried to kill him.
Now, watching the smooth-talking businessman lean against the straight back of the stainless steel chair across the simple military-issue table, he felt himself battling against the almost irresistible urge to jump up and sock him right in the jaw.
“May I have a word with you, Johnny?” Victor looked into his eyes, his iron stare strangely compelling.
“I believe you just did.” Johnny glared at him, jabbing the plastic spoon in his hand into the almost unidentifiable bowl of army slop he had been attempting to eat.
“In private.” The villain glanced at the army types at the neighbouring tables, watching the unlikely pair with interest.
“Yeah, sure, right. Like that’s gonna happen.” Johnny leant back in his uncomfortable chair, crossing his arms over his chest. “Shouldn’t you be saving the world with Reed or something?”
“I’m taking a break.” The scientist deadpanned, his grip on the back of the chair tightening until his knuckles turned white and the metal began to bend. “Reed’s a better scientist than I am, anyways.”
Johnny stared at the dark man in disbelief. He didn’t know the man very well, but if there was one thing he did know, it was that Victor von Doom never admitted to being inferior to anyone. Ever.
“Ok... Either that beating from Mr. Shiny reset your brain or this is some sort of genius plot to take over the world. In any case, I’m not at all interested. Sorry.” The Torch returned to his slop, trying to ignore the vast unpleasantness before him in favour of the vast unpleasantness he was trying to swallow.
Victor was silent for a long, long moment. The poor, abused chair let loose a quiet, tortured scream as the man’s fingers dug into the stainless steel. Johnny considered the wisdom of pissing off the guy who had previously held the title of ‘World’s Craziest Psycho’ (before the surfer and his amorphous friend had shown up, of course) while simultaneously trying to plot the escape route that would minimize the number of casualties and maximize his survival time.
“Jonathan...” The man’s voice was so quiet, Johnny almost didn’t hear it above the absolute silence of the mess hall. “Please.”
Victor von Doom never asked for anything.
Johnny stood up.
Hope you all like it! There are about six more chapters already written, so.. Yeah. Please review! It makes me eternally happy.
