Ditch the Dad

As I have mentioned previously in this weblog, I do frequently suspect that I am being subjected, by some presumably malevolent entity, to far more than my fair share of bizarre and inexplicable encounters when, as necessity occasionally demands, I venture out of the safety of my flat into the wider world. I am staying well out of it, clearly there is some sort of weird parent/child dynamic going on here that is completely alien to my experience.

No, he was small and dapper, frighteningly normal in appearance.

Are you sure the son wasn't one of those ventriloquist dummies and the dad was throwing his voice over that way? You did say the dad had put in his resume as well, even though he was retired.

Ventriloquist's dummy phobia. Well I'm damned. This is one of those problems that I never knew existed. It reminds me of the moment on Dragons' Den when the woman trying to flog the "ShePee" device that allows women to urinate standing up told the Dragons that female soldiers have to put camouflage paint on their bums so the enemy can't see their white cheeks when they have to pee. I just didn't know it was an issue. Then again, what's the answer to the question "If you are living with ventriloquist's dummy phobia, what is the real cost to your health, your career or school, and to your family life?" I'm slightly lost for words.

Perhaps I could solicit JP: what revelations have left you gobsmacked by your inability to recognise or predict them?

sorry perthman, but I am a little confused. i would have thought their cheeks would have been rather red if they were forced to do this in public.
