The great thing about being a moderator to a community like this is getting to see the players take the game's setting and run with it, developing plots and storylines and character relations. It warms our hearts to see everyone enjoying things so, and we love it when you take a small idea of ours and turn it into something much, much grander than ( Read more... )

Okay, I'm more than familiar with the concept of metagaming, but I feel like I should point out that I haven't noticed a real problem with it here. Admittedly, I'm not stalking every post or anything, but is there really that much of it going on?

Can you give us at least one example? I know it would be problematic to point out names, but then let me put myself on the block here. If I have made any post or done anything that qualifies as metagaming please point it out. I'm totally serious. Its impossible to fix a problem if you don't know its there.

Also, please consider that there may be good, ic reasons for a player's decisions that they haven't mentioned, or you haven't thought of.

We would not have made this post if we were not given reason to based on concerns of some of our playerbase. It's also why we're not giving specific game-related examples in the text above: we do not mean to point fingers or embarrass anyone, accidentally or intentionally.

If you need an even more specific example beyond the generic ones given above, the mods will use one of our character journals to create one for you, for example purposes only. Again, we will not point to an in-game example out of respect for those players. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We are well aware that players may have their own reasons for their characters knowing certain things, and of course we cannot know every single player's motivation for everything ever. But we do thank you for your concern!

Ummm...okay. Well, then since I haven't noticed anything personally, I really don't know what needs to be fixed. I have seen metagaming before, but not in this game. I'm not trying to be difficult, but it's hard to modify playing style when you can't figure out what's wrong in the first place.

While we appreciate your concern, and the concern of the rest of the playerbase, the moderators are handling this in private. If those involved wish to make their participation public, then that is their decision. Until that point, however, we will not be giving out names or examples, and will keep this post up as a general information post for those who may not be aware of what metagaming behavior is.

Again, we will not release names publicly out of respect for our players' privacy. Should there be an issue with any player, about this or about anything, it will be handled privately and not in a public forum like this post.
