throw me straight into the garbage can
----
It had been a few days since that incident.
They noticed something was a bit different with Papyrus. But they didn't ask about it. They were too afraid to. Mostly because they couldn't quite figure out what was different. Just something about the way he acted...
That thought lingered with them for a long time.
The clock was nearing 6am. The day-time programs were going to start up. It's around the time where they would head to their room to sleep. Taking the remote, they turned off the TV and cable. Setting it aside, they slowly got up from the couch and stretched a bit. Their stomach growled as they did.
'... I guess I should get something to eat before I go to bed.' They thought as they slowly made their way to the kitchen. Opening the fidge, they eyed the number of plastic containers labeled 'SPAGHETTI'.
'I don't know if I should make-' Their thought was cut short as they heard a shuffle behind them. Slowly turning around, they saw Papyrus standing in the doorway.
"O-oh... hey, Papyrus. Sorry if I woke you. I was just getting something to eat." They said quickly, grabbing one of the smaller containers and shutting the fridge. They felt strangely anxious.
'God, did I make too much noise?! It's so early, he should be sleeping for at least another couple of hours! Oh, fuck, I messed up his schedule!!' Their thoughts raced as they stuck the food into the microwave, shakily setting the timer. 'WHY ISN'T HE SAYING ANYTHING?! IS HE MAD AT ME?!?!' They avoided making eye contact with him, keeping their eyes on the food as the timer counted down.
"YOU DID NOT WAKE ME, I'VE BEEN UP FOR A WHILE." He finally answered. A sigh of relief escaped their lips. They turned to face him.
'Thank god, he said something.' But what he said wasn't like him. 'Up for a while...'
"Is something-"
-BEEEEEEEP-
The timer on the microwave went off, causing them to flinched a bit in surprise. They forgot to keep an eye on it.
"WHICH CONTAINER DID YOU PICK?" He asked, his voice somewhat energetic as he came over to them.
"Oh, uh... the one you made last night. I saw that it had meatballs in it." They said as they took the plate out of the microwave.
"OH, YES! I REMEMBER YOU SAID YOU LIKED THEM, SO I MADE SURE TO GO OUT AND FIND SOME JUST FOR YOU!" He said with a giant smile. Their face started to go red.
"A-ah... you didn't have to go out of your way to do something like that for... meeee..." They slightly trailed off as they opened the drawer for the silverware. Taking hold of two forks, they gently closed the drawer. "... why don't you join me?" They said as they held out the other fork for him. He almost squeaked with excitement as he nodded in agreement, taking the fork. They both walked over to the table in the living room and sat down beside eachother.
They happily ate the food.
Papyrus really outdid himself this time, he had been learning a lot more now that Jigo moved in with him and Sans.
"This is really good! It's my favorite type of noodle, too." They said as they took a mouthfull to their mouth.
"I'M SO HAPPY YOU LIKE IT! AND I'LL BE SURE TO REMEMBER THAT." He said so happily, his cheeks faintly glowing orange.
'God, he's so cute when he blushes like that.' A small smile brushed across their face as they finished their last bite, setting the fork at the edge of the plate. Watching him finish the last bit of it, they were reminded of the small conversation earlier.
"... oh, you said you've been up for a while, right? Is something wrong?" They slightly sat back in their chair. Papyrus froze as he brought the last bite to his mouth.
"!!!... AA... AA..." The blush on his cheek bones seemed to glow a bit brighter. "NOTHING IS..." He looked over at them, seeing the growing concern on their face made him give defeated sigh. "OH, I CANNOT LIE TO YOU." He set his fork down and took hold of the plate as he got up from his seat. They watched him, growing a little more concerned.
"... Papyrus?" They watched him put the dish into the sink. He seemed to take his him, as if he was thinking really deeply about what to say.
"... I KEEP THINKING ABOUT THE SLEEPOVER WE HAD THE OTHER NIGHT." He said as he walked back over to the table, standing beside them. They felt their face bright red once more.
"O-oh, yeah?" Nervousness in their tone. "What about it?" They fidgeted in their seat, trying to hide their growing discomfort. They still felt guilty for burdening him with it, even if he seemed to enjoy it.
"IT WAS... RATHER ENJOYABLE." They looked up at him, their eyes slightly widening. Biting their lip, they tried to prevent themself from smiling wide.
"Ah... I... enjoyed it, too." They replied, slowly standing up from their seat.
"I HAD A REALLY GREAT SLEEP THAT NIGHT. ONE OF THE BEST I'VE HAD IN A LONG TIME!" His comments were making it really difficult for them to keep their cool.
"Ah ha haha... m-me, too." Their face grew more red, biting their lip harder.
"I WAS TRYING TO THINK OF WHY. SINCE I HAVE OFTEN HAD TO SLEEP WITH MY BROTHER, I DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD BE ANY DIFFERENT FROM THAT." He held his hand up to his chin, in a thinking position. "AFTER THINKING ABOUT IT FOR SOME TIME, I THINK I FIGURED IT OUT! WHILE I WAS HOLDING YOU CLOSE, I WAS ENCHANTED BY THE PULSATION WITHIN YOUR CHEST. IT WAS RATHER MESMERIZING!" Their eyes couldn't look away from him, their face was practically burning from how red it had gotten.
They didn't know what to say. It was almost painfully obvious that his comments were making them embarrassed, but they didn't tell him to stop. They liked hearing that. Or rather LOVED hearing that.
"I HAVE TRYING TO THINK OF A WAY TO ASK IF WE COULD DO THAT AGAIN SOMETIME. I KNOW YOU WERE RATHER UPSET THAT NIGHT, SO I DIDN'T WANT TO BRING IT UP." He gave a small sigh before putting his hands to his hips. "BUT, IF I AM CORRECT, IT SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING YOU WOULD WANT TO DO AGAIN!" Giving a bright smile to them, he almost beamed with happiness. They couldn't help but give a smile back to him.
"... oh my god, that was the sweetest thing I've ever heard." They said quickly, looking down as a wave of embarrassment went through them. "... I... I would love to do that again." Their voice grew quiet. "I just didn't know... if you would want to... my sleeping schedule is almost opposite of yours." They looked at the time on the cable box. "I know you'd be getting up to do your morning duties in just a little bit, and this is around the time I'd be going to sleep. We can try another time, though." They ended with a nervous laugh, crossing their arms across their chest. They could feel their heart pounding hard, it was almost hard to breathe normally.
Papyrus almost gave a sad look before returning his grin.
"... IT'S NOT OFTEN I'LL TAKE MY BROTHERS ADVICE ABOUT MY DAILY DUTIES, BUT I THINK I CAN TAKE ONE DAY OFF THIS WEEK! I'VE BEEN REALLY THINKING A LOT ABOUT THIS!!" He gave a wink. His voice was almost eager. Jigo's eyes widened before they squinted from the growing smile on their face.
"R-really?" They were almost blown away.
'He was thinking a lot about sleeping with me?! Because of my...' If their face could be any redder, it would have by that point.
"Hhhhhaaaa, okay. L-let's go to... your room?" They lightly shrugged their shoulders. Papyrus' face beamed.
"OKAY!" He reached over to grabed their shoulder and gently push them towards the stairs. He was almost bounching with excitement. That only made Jigo feel even more nervous. Their heart raced faster as they went up the stairs and straight into his room.
'He's so excited about it and I'm secretly fuming with embarrassment!! Why can't I say that? ... I don't want him to think I don't want to, or that it's weird... I guess it would be nice to share something that personal with him.' Their thoughts stopped as they heard the clicking of the door close behind them.
The door was warmly lit, just like last time. The soft glow of the holiday lights also shines through. It was almost like that night, but they could see the sun light beging to peek through the window shades. They took a short breath.
"Are you sure you want to do this now? I would feel bad if you took a day off this short notice." They said as they slowly stepped towards the bed. It made it sound like they didn't want to continue with the plan.
"ARE YOU NOT OKAY WITH DOING THIS?" He asked, stepping closer to them.
"No, no, I'm cool with it!" They said quickly, their voice getting higher. "... I mean... I have thought about this, as well. Probably not the same way as you, though." They brought their hands to their face. "Sharing something that's personal to me... I-"
"OH, NO, DID I STEP OVER THE LINE? I DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS SOMETHING PERSONAL." He said, almost nervously. As if he was suddenly afraid he offend.
"Oh, no, no! It's okay, hahahaa." Giving an awkward laugh. "I... I want to share something really personal... to... to the one I care about. A-and... I really care about you. A lot." They slowly brought their hands to their sides and bent them up for a pathetic excuse for a hug, giving a smile to him. "... s-so..." His face beamed, almost dashing over to them as he wrapped his arms around them and lifted them up.
"I HAD NO IDEA SOMETHING LIKE THAT WAS SO PERSONAL! THANK YOU FOR SHARING WITH ME, I CARE ABOUT YOU, TOO!" He nuzzled his head against their chest as he spun around a few times. They gave a laugh, holding his head lightly against them. They could still feel their heart pounding from the nervousness earlier, but now it was just the excitement racing through them.
They felt... safe. Even if they were lifted off the ground. It was strange to them how a skeleton could feel so soft.
"... that's really nice to hear, Papyrus." They said quietly. They wanted to kiss the top of his head, they wanted to show some other sort of affection. But their nervousness overcame them, like it always did. They just held onto him gently, lightly patting the back of his head.
"... IT'S BEATING REALLY FAST AGAIN, ARE YOU OKAY?" His voice was quiet. They felt their face burn up once more.
"Mmhm." They kept their voice quiet. "I'm perfectly fine, Papyrus... I'm just... really happy."
"HERE, WE CAN LAY DOWN SO YOU CAN GET READY TO SLEEP." He turned towards the bed and gently set them down on it as he released them. They couldn't help by giggle at how gentle he was.
They slowly situated themself close to the wall, trying to calm down from the nervousness they were feeling.
'I can't believe this is really happening... I can't believe this was Papyrus' idea... I can't believe he said those things... I just... can't believe it!' Their thoughts raced as they slowly patted the space next to them. Papyrus bounced in place before practically jumping into the bed and wrapping his arms around them, pushing them to lay back.
"I AM VERY HAPPY YOU AGREED TO DO THIS!" He said happily, giving them a beaming smile. They wrapped their arms around his shoulders.
"Heh... I have to admit that I'm still really nervous about this." Their voice was quiet. "... I know I shouldn't be, though. I... I trust you." His face grew a slight fade of orange.
"NYEH HEH, THAT MAKES ME SO HAPPY! TRUST IS THE BIGGEST PART OF ANY FRIENDSHIP. AND I MAKE SURE TO DO WHAT IT RIGHT FOR FRIENDSHIPS!" The confidence in his voice made them smile brightly.
"You sure do." They lightly pat his head, laying their head on his pillow. Their eyes scanned the room. The sunlight was getting brighter through the blinds. They almost wished it was night instead of morning.
Papyrus made a small 'nyeh' as he laid his head on their chest, softly nuzzling against them. They let out a small breath as they tried to relax, but they could still feel their heart pounding. They tried to get their mind off of it.
Watching the fading holiday lights outside the window flicker from red to green. Seeing the dim lights reflect off the darkness in the room. Though, the darkness was slowly fading as the sun rose. They gently placed their hand on the back of his head, giving it a soft pet. He was already practically falling asleep. The surprised them at first, but then they remembered that he was up for a long time... thinking about how to ask them to do this.
They hoped they could tell him more... the next time they do this.
"... sweet dreams, Papyrus."
