I just got back from ToraCon 2014.
Overall, it was fun.
TL:DR version...
The beginning was shit, but it worked out.
Long version.
We left at around 8am in the morning. Got mixed up on the highway a little bit, arrived around 11:30am.
When we walked up to the registration area, we were told that the attendance cap has been reached and no one can register anymore. So, we were pretty much too late.
I
was
devastated.
I just wanted to go and not have to care about anything. At that point, I wanted to go home. But I couldn't.
My friend, Iwa, was the only one that got a badge because he pre-ordered. Though, he figured something out. Someone gave him their badge.
Between the 5 of us, we had 2 badges. We had to swap out when we wanted to go to panels and such.
Me and Ooka had them for a while. We went to the Vendor hall, where I spend pretty much ALL my money in one go. With the help of Ooka, since it was over my budget. (Pics later.)
We got to see an acting panel with Chuck Huber. It was interesting.
Took a pic of Ooka and him, since she really likes him.
He also signed things, which was nice since that wasn't planned.
Ahhh... what else did we do...
After that, we pretty much had to trade the badges off and wander around for a while.
There was one other thing we went to, but we got in without our badges... WHICH IS BAD, I KNOW, but yeah.
We played the Ultimate Anime Trivia game. We did it last year, where 3 members from the audience go to the front of the room and answer a multiple choice question. The winner(s) of the round gets to pick a prize.
Ooka won 3 times and I won 2.
I got the DVD of the full Disgaea Anime and some manga about the boys from Haruhi Suzumiya.
After that, we just chilled until around 1am, when we got kicked out of the building since it was closing. We had to wait for Iwa and the others to get out of the rave. I didn't get a headache this year so I wasn't mad about waiting.
We got to the hotel room, which Iwa ordered. It had one bed. There was 5 of us total. Only 2 could fit on the bed. I slept on the floor and used my hoodies as blankets. It wasn't cold so... I actually slept fine but everyone else didn't.
It just wasn't... nice.
The next day, we got up SUPER early so we could actually REGISTER and get a badge for the day. Got up at 7am and registered at 8am.
But we left to go get breakfast at Golden Corral. I've never been there before so I felt like an idiot with how to do anything. It was really good, though. I tried to not over eat so I didn't get car sick. (Which I didn't for once! I'm pretty sure it was with the help of Ooka's medicine;...)
After a bit, we headed back to the con and went to the vendors again. We went with the other girl that came with us, Crystal. She was really nice... she bought me something (pics later) and helped Ooka out with something else.
I felt really bad about it, as I always feel bad when someone buys me something... but it was really nice.
While we waited for the Anime Trivia panel again, we sat around the main hall.
And there was the CREEPIEST Slenderman cosplay I have ever seen.
Just like... a kid with really long arms...
It was just... CREEPY. We saw him last night, but he was on his way somewhere. Just... wow. Really creepy.
I didn't take many pics, since I wasn't... really in the mood most of the time. I know that kind of sucks, but... yeah...
Anyways, it took us a while to even find the panel and we were an hour early, just so we could get in easier.
A lot of people showed up and it was a little annoying... but, it was fun. I was starting to crash at that point. (As this was around 3:30pm.)
Didn't win anything this time, but I didn't expect to. We won things from last night and he remembered us.
I am in so much pain right now, my legs hurt, my feet hurt, my back hurts, my jaw hurts.
And... yeah. That was that.
It was a good experience. Though, next time... we are doing some preparation ourselves so we can get our badges ahead of time and a good hotel room.
