I need to be at work right now, but I have such apathy towards that place anymore. Maybe it is because today is probably my last day and I have a job that pays $2/hr more waiting for me next week. Yep, that could be it. I don't even want to go. I don't need the money, but I avoided it like a plague on Tuesday, so 7 hours is inevitable.

My instructing job for the summer gear up drama program is over. I hate that. I have had SUCH great discussions. For the summer program, I had a group of about 10 boys, who came to the school voluntarily from 8am to 5pm everyday. I only met with them on Tuesdays, but it was still so freakin refreshing to meet and get to sow into 15 and 16 year old young black men from "the hood" who have their head on straight and are SO ready to take on the world and defeat every stereotype and status quo that has ever been presented to them. SO REFRESHING! I think working with all boys was good for me. Working with all girls, as I did in the spring was fun and productive, but you can only beat the self-concept and "You don't need a man to survive" issues for so long. I can't wait to start in the fall again. It's so mutually-beneficial, and not just because I get payed VERY WELL, but because I learn just as much from them as they learn from me. The ultimate reward, however, is when one of them comes up to me after the program is over and tells me they've truly enjoyed my session and actually learned something. Tuesday, a young man came up to me after the session and told me how cool it was to be able to be so REAL about issues that they can't be REAL with when talking to teachers. THAT MADE MY DAY!

I've never been one to really and truly TREASURE education. I know and have always known how important it is, but that's never been an issue that I BEAT INTO PEOPLE'S HEADS...until...I started working in this program. Now, to me, education isn't only "for certain people." IT IS A NECESSITY FOR EVERYONE WALKING THIS EARTH! I've always seen education as a personal matter, a personal choice. But now, I think college should be required...legally. I could go on and on...but I shan't.

In other news, I'm feenin for some Wolff!!! No, that is not a sexual advance. ;)

CD is done and will be shipped next week. Yay...is an underexclamation!
