I know exactly what I want and who I want to be

It’s still raining here, plus thunderstorm and hail! THE WORLD IS ENDING. I probably should wrap gifts and stuff for Christmas, but puttering around and wasting time on the Internet might be better.

Yoinked from calapine.

Your main fandom of the year?

Doctor Who, as usual.

Your favorite film watched this year?

Hmmm. Inception was probably the only one where I left the theater thinking now there was a fine film. And How to Train Your Dragon was pretty damn awesome too.

Your favorite book read this year?

Ugh. I’ll be honest in saying that I haven’t really read a whole lot this past year, mostly because my commute to work is me walking rather than taking a subway. It’s a lot harder to walk and read at the same time, and I am just not that talented!

I did read Craig Ferguson’s American on Purpose, which I liked a lot.

Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?

Marina and the Diamonds - I Am Not A Robot (Clock Opera Remix)

Your favorite TV show of the year?

Doctor Who again. Though I’ve never hit a moment of “I’M NEVER WATCHING THIS SHOW AGAIN”, my love was waning during the Specials year. THANK GOD for S5. It wasn’t anywhere near perfect, but it was fun and it rekindled my love.

Your favorite LJ community of the year?

crafty_tardis. I’m always blown away by other peoples’ talent.

Your best new fandom discovery of the year?

I suppose Sherlock. The Walking Dead is my new favorite show, but I actually went looking for Sherlock fanfic. I also keep meaning to draw fanart (because Benedict Cumberbatch’s face is SO AMAZING), but blame my lack of artistic motivation on my dead harddrive.

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?

Probably the Lost finale. I’ve gotten over it and actually can rewatch S6 without feeling any rage (hooray!), but at the time, it was such a blow. And then Damon Lindelof compares his disappointment of Harry Potter to Lost fandom. OH BOO FUCKING HOO, LINDELOF. Get over yourself.

Your TV boyfriend of the year?

ELEVENSIES. I admitted at ChiTARDIS that my impressions of Matt Smith’s Eleven did a complete 180 for me from the time he was announced to his first episode. Currently, he’s the Doctor I’d like to travel with the most.

Your TV girlfriend of the year?

I adore Amy Pond.

Your biggest squee moment of the year?

“The Eleventh Hour”. basalt had just helped me move, and the anticipation of the new episode was killing me. Would I hate the new Doctor? The new companion? Was Moffat better as a once-a-series writer rather than showrunner? By the time that episode was over, I was ecstatic. I think basalt and I ran downstairs to my Internet café, keyboard-slammed about our love for it, and then ran back to my apartment to rewatch it.

The most missed of your old fandoms?

I’m currently rewatching X-Files and remembering a lot of what I loved about that show. There was a great fanfic archive that I loved called the Cutting Room Floor. It was all post-episode and between-the-scenes fic and I spent many a night in college reading fic after fic after fic.

The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?

Though I occasionally read fanfic for Sherlock, I’m limited to just what my flist has provided, whether it be written or recced. I’m more than curious to see what the rest of the fandom has to offer.

Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?

New Doctor Who! New Walking Dead! Maybe new Sherlock!
