I was going write up a summary of the trip, but it seems I’ve forgotten a ton of it (I have a bit of a memory problem). So I’m just going to link to
basalt‘s trip write-up.
Ta-da! Summary and a billion pics this way! Check out my long ass toes and me playing Bejeweled everywhere.
I also spent a tad more money than I should have. I’ve been wanting The Endless Summer movies for a while now (my favorite clips
here and
here), but they’re never available in NYC and I hate purchasing things online. I had to buck up and pay an assload of money for two documentaries and an additional footage disc. We did abuse my brother’s discount at the surf shop and I totally bought
this jacket (in off-white). I call it my not-Alex!jacket. It’s a bit of a stretch, but at least it’s subtly secret fandomy.
I also saw Harry Potter.
Not my favorite book and not my favorite movie, but it was definitely up there. Seriously, Harry needs to get high on the Luck potion more often, I was laughing my ass off. As hilarious as the lusty wizards and witches in lurve were, I’d gladly exchange a scene or two for something that would have helped with the plot more. Say… Tom Riddle’s mother? Am very disappointed that Snape was still ‘too cool’ at the end. Where was his giant flip out scene? It was more of a “Oh, PS. I’m the Half-Blood Prince. Peace, y’all!”
Also, phallic broomsticks much? SOOOO many not-subtle innuendos in this movie.
But yes, hilarious movie, and intentionally so. You’ll definitely need the lulz before the big angst fest for Deathly Hallows (which I just re-read and it didn’t piss me off as much as I remember it doing the first time I read it).
