Sigh. I could be wrong. In a year, he can totally win me over in his first episode, just like Tennant did. But on initial reaction, he's just too young for me. Of course, if I had my choice, Bill Nighy would be the Doctor.
So, it is sort of true, then? Time Lords regenerate younger? Maybe Twelve or Thirteen will be that kid from "Love Actually".
We shall see. And we shall see the wank hit the fans, too. *stays away from OG*
Nah - after Five they got older again, then Eight was younger than Seven, etc.
Though It's hilarious that you want both Bill Nighy and Thomas Sangster (though he's already played a major role in DW), because you match with my wish list.
HAHAHAHA... sigh. DON'T REMIND ME. I was just hoping for someone in his 30s.
I've seen that Ruby Smoke movie whatever it was with Billie Piper, but I can't say I really remember anything about that film, even Miss Piper.
I think I was all set to see Paterson Joseph's name, so this is a sort of shock, you know? And I'm sure a lot of other people are the same way. Only time will tell.
I'm still sort of shocked that they're telling all this early. I wasn't around for when Tennant took over for Eccleston, so I don't know how much in advance people were for it. All I know was I saw the regeneration (having no idea what regeneration WAS) and thought WHO THE FUCK IS THIS ASSHOLE AND WHAT HAS HE DONE WITH ECCLES?! But by the end of the episode, I was a smitten kitten. So who knows? I might eat my own words and find this kid to be the most brilliant Doctor ever!
Oh dear, you didn't know about regeneration when it happened? That must have been QUITE a shock, indeed!
And, yeah, I gotta admit that part of me is going "Thanks for making me feel bloody old, Moffat!" but that's just the whiny part and if I ignore it, it'll go away...
Yup! I didn't know the premise or format of the show when I started watching and I sort of power-watched through the first series and the second one (the second series has just finished airing the UK when I watched, but I was staying away from the Internet for fear of spoilers). But then Tennant won me over quoting "The Lion King".
I'm sure my feelings about this will fade away soon and by the time his first episode actually airs a year from now, I'll be in a totally state of mood.
so depressed. theyre going to take all the sophistication out of this show and its just going to be a saturday morning kids show like sarah jane adventures.
i do not think a cheeky history boy is the right pick for the doctor. hes just going to come off as arrogant instead of wise.
Oh, I'll grant the new series is certainly *slicker* than the classic Who but "sophisticated"?
For that matter, I don't remember any sophistication in "Delta and The Bannermen" or similar old school tales... :)
And as for arrogant Doctors, I think that the Third Doctor (no spring chicken when he had the role) takes the cake in that regard - I doubt Smith will even be able to come *close* !
Haha, we shall see! Knowing me, I'll probably like him, I just need to see him act as the Doctor first. And it should also be interesting when we find out who's he is paired with, too.

Learning that David Tennant is less than a year older than me was a bit of a blow. I figured that #11 would be younger.
Let's just find out if the guy can act, shall we? I think that's far more important than his age...
