O HAI.

Oh? What’s that I see in the distance? Why, it’s a picspam! HUZZAH.

First up, Calfornia!

And we begin with SCHNAUZER NOSE. I won’t lie, the primary reason why I went to California was to see Gidget. Who was, more or less, in perfect health, despite her lack of hearing. She’ll be 13 in two weeks.

When lostsailors, ladybrick, and Lizzy-From-Spain came down to visit, we went to Main Street for shopping and took a blustery walk on the Pier. Not a bad day. Low tide, the skies are clear, and not that crowded. Just a typical day at home! You can even see the kite surfers in the way distance.

O HAI ladybrick.

Randomly, this was in the B & N my dad and I stopped at for some New Zealand travel guides (for Dad, not me -- someday!). It was sort of weird to see something SCADish 3000 miles away from the college.

Just before I headed back to NYC. Gidget was already sulking. The second she sees suitcases, she knows exactly what is up.

My trip was brief, but fun. This is forever old, but ladybrick and lostsailors, thank you SO much for making the trip down!

And now!

SAVANNAH!

We begin our trip at the crack of dawn. I hadn’t slept at all the night before, so I was exhausted the entire day. The nice thing about early flights is that you get into Savannah just before lunch time! And the best part about flying from NYC to Savannah: DIRECT FLIGHT. No going through hell-hole Atlanta airport!

So we check into the Mansion and immediately take photos in bathrobes to send back to our co-workers who were working. Saucy wenches. Also, check out our rockin’ bed that all three of us stayed in!

Pretties!

We took a walk down to River Street and found this gem along the way. Oh, South… please PLEASE change. (If you can’t read that, it says “Vote for Bush or die”.)

I love all the steps leading down to River Street. What is it with the settlers that thought it’d be a Good Idea to make a step two feet high and less than a foot wide?

Exhaustion… creeping… in…

We had a delish dinner at the Six Pence and a few ridiculously cheap drinks.

Umm… yeah?

Later, we wound up at another bar and met up with a few old friends.

I CAN HAS dogonstilts?

The elevator at the Mansion is ridiculous. It’s white marble, and with this black-and-white photo on the ceiling, the black velvet drapery along the top, and the bouquet of flowers on the side, you felt like you were in a tomb. Creeeeeeeeeepy.

Most of our vacation was this…

Lots of sitting around in robes and playing our DS. I’m not really complaining. That room was awesome. We heard our next door neighbors having sex several times. AWKWARD.

Onto the reason why we were in Savannah in the first place! heaterz0r’s
wedding took place in one of the squares, the one by the art history department building. Very pretty!

OMG SHOES.

Gorgeous basalt!

O HAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIII…

And then heaterz0r showed up, all blaze and glory and in a horse-drawn carriage.

Awwww… the happy couple! Aren’t they adorable?

The reception was at the Roundhouse, which was another place I hadn’t been to during my time at SCAD. It’s a train museum, but it’s actually quite pretty in the courtyard area where we had dinner.

Here, you can see through some of the ruins. I wish I had walked around a bit, but I love the brick wall with no windows.

Also, our table was totally THE COOL TABLE.

Instead of throwing rice, we threw lavender. It smelled wonderful!

The unsuspecting prey! We later found out that heaterz0r’s new husband was allergic to lavender. Ooops.

SILLINESS ENSUED. GORGEOUS LADIES.

Strangely, the night was called early because there was a mad desire to sit in the giant two-person tub.

The concierge desk at the Mansion. We CLEARLY didn’t belong there.

SAUCY.

REFLECTIONS.

ANGST.

The next day was also spent a-wanderin’. We went and had lunch and ice cream at Leopold’s. Here, have some!

We then stumbled upon a playground and immediately regressed back to five-year-olds.

Upon our walkabouts, we saw how the economy was hitting the town. I had never seen so many “For Sale” or “For Rent” signs before. Also, it was a ghost town! I mean, we’re used to (sadly) NYC’s bustling streets but Savannah was DEAD. Hardly any tourists, hardly any art students, hardly anyone! It was sort of sad to see!

For our last hurrah, we sat out in Forsyth for an hour before we had to head to the airport and back to NYC. It was lurvely.

Lovely trip! There will always be a tiny Savannah-shaped hole in my heart, but I’m more or less happy to be where I am.
