So I just saw a midnight showing of X-Files. And I'm afraid I have words to say.
Ummm... what the fuck was with the rowboat during the credits?
Read my words: MULDER AND SCULLY GO TO FIJI AND MULDER IS ROWING A ROWBOAT AND SCULLY IS IN A BIKINI.
I'M NOT MAKING THIS UP.
To be fair, it's obviously a huge joke because the two of them wave at the camera. BUT STILL... OMGWTFBBQ.
par_tay says they're going to Craphole Island to save the remaining Lost folk. This crack!fic needs to be written. (eyes

Anyway... onto the real stuff.
The way I've been describing it is that it's one of those episodes that you just forget about. It's not outstandingly good as "Bad Blood" and it's not outstandingly bad as "The Field Where I Died". It just... is. It's like when I skim over my DVDs to watch something, and I have to pause on an episode title because I don't remember what the episode is about. That's what it's like.
There is LOTS of fanservice, so there's tons of nods to the diehard fans. Just the first scene with both Mulder and Scully in it... the "I Want To Believe" poster is there, a picture of Samantha is there, Mulder's basketball is there, and the pencils in the ceiling are there. And sharp eyes (and people with excellent memories for such things) will spot things like Gilligan listed in Mulder's phone (assumingly in reference to Vince Gilligan). And there's references to previous characters in episodes, like Clyde Bruckman and such.
But there's lots of stuff missing, too. There was no mention of Doggett or Reyes. William got a passing comment. Are the X-Files even open anymore? I wish we knew if Scully was still able to keep in contact with her family. She's working as a doctor under her real name, so it's not like SHE'S in hiding. Meanwhile, Mulder has developed Sasquatch!beard and is cutting out newspapers like a crazy person... oh wait, he IS a crazy person...
There were cute little bits that made me go "AWWWWWWW, MY SHOW." There were quite a few awkward bits that made me go "..." But basically, my average reaction was "Whut."
So, yeah. Basically, an episode that you forget about with movie stuff thrown into it. Was it really worth it to do a movie six years after the series ended? *shrugs* Oh well.
At least Batman was awesome. Thus ends my summer at the movies (or the ones that I've been dying to see).
Oh yeah. The best thing about the movie was Skinner's cameo appearance. Because Skinner is awesome. And it's quite obvious Scully has been seeing him on the side *winkwink*. Oh, and I'm expecting the Skinner/Mulder slashers to have a field day after they see this (I assume they exist... Rule 34 and all).
Also, I totally blew out my back coughing today, so I'm gonna go take a very hot shower and lie on a heating pad while I read "Watchmen". Goodnight.
