Why hello, Livejournal. I spend more time on Twitter than on you. I'm sorry about that.

It hasn't been all unemployment and misery. I actually HAD a job. Too bad it lasted for only 5 days. I applied to be a canvasser for the Human Rights Campaign. Basically my job was to talk to people on the street about gay rights and ask them to donate so we could get a hate crimes bill passed through Congress. Which is a badass job, and I actually really liked it...except for the fact that I couldn't meet quota ($225 dollars a day). In order to stay on as a canvasser, you have to make $225 in your first three shifts or you're out of there. By the fourth day, I still hadn't made quota, so that was that. The bad part was that I had to stand in one position for 6 hours a day with only a couple of ten minute breaks. Which was HELL on my flat feet. That and having bible thumping crazy fundamentalists yell things like "Fuck you, bitch" or "gays are evil!" or planting themselves a foot away from my face and whipping out their gold plated bible and screaming bible verses at me. But I was really passionate about the campaign and I hope to keep doing something like that in the future. Door to door canvassing would be cool. At least I could talk to people one on one instead of trying to get people on busy street corners where no one wants to stop and talk to you.

There's something to be said for office jobs though. I am bone tired after only five days. I don't know how I stood on my feet for hours on end when I worked at the video store and in the Target aisle. After an hour, everything from my back up starts to ache. Of course, most of the people at the Human Rights Campaign were like, 19-22. They have way more stamina than me. Old ladies(like me) need to fucking SIT.
