Time for my parting now has come...

The Amen of my college career is tonight...

Good bye, really means good-bye this year. Some of you I'll see often, but most of you I won't. Oh well...we still have the summer for all left in Tuscaloosa.

This is the farewell posting. There will be more to follow, but this is good-bye.

I have a big mouth. I talk a lot. If I have ever offended someone, I'm sorry. Sometimes you just get caught up in the moment and don't know what you are saying until you've said it.

As I said at my recital, we don't always take enough time to sit down and say thank you. Thanks to all of you who first of all, came to my recital and had good things to say about it to me. Most of all, thank you to the critical people who told me what I did wrong. That actually meant more to me because it was like you were being constructive and not rewriting history. I know how I played better than anyone else.

Thank you to all of you who participated in CMENC. Music education is a noble profession. Some are called to perform, some are called to teach. Neither makes you any less of a musician. Remember, in the words of Harry Price (one of the greatest teachers, advisors you'll ever meet):

"It's never too late to do good."
"Bad things happen to those who procrastinate."
"There are two reasons band directors get fired: messing with the money and messing with the kids."

To the trombone section...My first "group" in college. When I felt that I didn't belong, you came and sucked me in your strange little world. I'll never forget those long days of practice making fun of Ms. Scott, Snork, trumpets, mellophones, Summer, and the list could go on for days. Maybe everyone thought we were assholes because we were. Come August, think about me. I'll be thinking about you everyday of band camp, of course, that might be from my air conditioned room.

Hoorah...
I stole the pie....
Play it louder, Play it faster, Play it higher. Anytime. Million Dollar FAGGOT LINE...
She really is only eighteen...
Wel...come...to the...Real....Millon...Dollah...Bayand...

The Pots and Pans are calling me and I cannot say no...To the sisters of SAI...I'm going to miss you ladies...We've had some really good times together. Sing we now...

Love and Roses

To be continued...
