I have a couple of
uchiwas that my grandma gave me; it's those uchiwas you get for free as a commercial sample, so they're not very beautiful, but really useful in the heat of summer.
I must say though, that even if the word uchiwa is Japanese, these fans are common in China as well.
How to remake your old uchiwas
Put the uchiwa you want to remake in water. A couple of hours and the paper will loosen by itself.
Let the uchiwa frame dry.
In the meanwhile, cut out a template...
... and print out some pictures to use.
Use the template so that you get the shape right.
Now to the glueing. I use liquid glue, so I work with the brush. You can use bigger brush, it may be faster, but I didn't want to have glue all over the place...
"Paint" the glue on the frame and then stick the paper on it.
One side finished. Now do the same with the other side. Easy, but it took longer than I expected... ^^;
Front and back. As you can see, beside Kame, Kitty also likes CNBLUE. XDD~
I'm not too satisfied that it hangs up-side-down though... T_T;
Remake no. 2
This frame is made of bamboo and it was a bit trickier to glue.
This one didn't need a template to shape the pictures. Glueing to the frame first...
... then cut out the shape.
Front: this awesome picture/wallpaper was photoshop by yinsheng. Credits to her.
... and back.
Useful and pretty - don't you agree? ^_________^

I have one more left. Any idea what to put on it? XD
