[Pic] Happy Easter!

Mar 23, 2008 23:45

Easter time must be the best time of the year. I sure like Christmas too, but Easter is special, since it's between winter and spring, the time when you've got tired of the cold and darkness, you don't want to see snow, really longing for the sun and for summer to come; a season when flowers start blooming, trees put out leaves, birds coming back from the south, not to mention the sun is working properly again.

Easter is the biggest event in church, because it was at that time the crucial things happened for Christianity: Christ let himself be killed, being the sacrifice to atone for our sins. Then he triumphed over death, to rise on the third day. Really, you have to believe there was a resurrection, or else the whole Christian belief is empty and we (Christians) will be the most pathetic people in the world.

I was reading Mark 15 the other day, about when Jesus was sold and caught, unfairly accused and sentenced to death and then finally crucified. It would be rather depressing if the story ended there. It would be like watching a movie and stop right where it goes to the most depressing part. Thanks God it didn't. I believe it didn't, that's why I'm celebrating Easter.

Our God is awesome, isn't he? The timing of Easter in spring suits perfectly. After the long dark winter life is spiring.  Everything is waking up from its deep sleep. Easter and spring is about life. Death is overpowered and beaten, the time for new lifes to start. More than anything, Easter and spring to me symbolize hope and a light in the dark tunnel you are walking through.

Snow at Easter...?

Really, a few days before Good Friday it started to snow. It was storm at night and the next morning, the world looked all white.
I guess it's due to the fact that Easter is set really early this year, but still....

"Glad påsk!"  (Happy Easter!)

Somehow, seeing the snow in the background... it's odd. I mean, come on... Easter and snow?? O.o
I don't want snow at this time. I. WANT. SPRING.

The kids, though, had a good time playing in the snow that day. ^^;

When I woke up in the morning my window was nicely decorated... ^^

Maundy Thursday - Easter party at school

I know, I'm a bit vain, I don't want to be an ugly Easter witch. =P

All teachers and co-workers at school got an Easter egg with chocolates by the school principal. Another nice thing with this season is you can eat a lot of chocolate. XD~

Too bad I can't post up pictures of the kids in different Easter witch dresses, but I wanted to share this chicken girl. Kawaii. <3

Playing the "put the beak on the cock" game.

Good Friday - dinner with the family

My aunt-in-law from Iran finally arrived to Sweden, so we gathered everybody to have dinner, to celebrate my uncle and his wife.

Me and Fung (my cousin) being bakas.

Jenny (sis) and her boyfriend.

Créme caramel, with reflection of the lamp.

Candy or dried fruit (?) from Iran. I still don't know what it is, but it tasted sweet even though it looks like caterpillars.

The classic family shoot. ^^;
(I have to say my camera is awesome!)

Easter Saturday

I woke up, finished One Pound Gospel (aww.... Kame-chan was soooo adorable and I loved the ending, so sad that the drama has finished, don't know how long I will have to wait for the next Kame-drama... T_T), then Jenny and I drove to Burger King to have breakfast. We joined with Fung later, going to a shopping mall and bought some stuff. ^^

Jenny in the morning, looking like a Japanese rice ball. XD~

Tong yun!!

Later in the afternoon (the same day) we got our aunts to teach us how to make tong yun (or tangyuan if you prefer the mandarin way). It's really simple, only add water to glutinous rice flour and then choose what colour you want for the balls.

Jenny: We will have pink, green, blue, purple and white.
Me: What about yellow?
Jenny: No.
Me: But it's Easter. And I think orange is nice too.
Jenny: No way.

Fung: Can't we have brown?

Everybody just ignores Fung.

Me: I want yellow! It's Easter. Let me have my yellow!!

Make your own syrup - sugar and boiled water, add some ginger to get a "stingier" taste. =)

As you can see, in the end I got my yellow tong yun. All of a sudden, everybody started to experimenting with the colours...

Cool, ne?

Pink and white.

Green in different shades and white. The wurms are also tong yun, eatable. XD

~*~*~*~

Last year, at this time, I was in Japan with some of my closest friends. We had a wonderful time amongst the sakuras, sushis and Kame billboards. I miss that. >.<

But this year, I really had a great Easter weekend too. And fortunately Easter holiday hasn't ended yet. No work tomorrow, Tuesday to Thursday should be rather soft at work since it's holiday and no school, only daycare. On Friday I'm going to Fung's place to attend on her birthday party. Happy ~
